"Where did you go?" Qian Ningning asked when she saw Lu Ruojiang return. When she saw the box in his hand, Qian Ningning looked at him warily and said, "You didn't buy more hairpins again, did you?" Lu Ruojiang chuckled, "I only have so little money on me, where would I go to buy such expensive hairpins?"
He handed over the box, "It's a piece of jade. I had a dream last night, and I don't remember most of it, but I remembered one thing. When my father and mother got married, there was a bracelet that my father made in the betrothal gifts."
The implication was very clear. Qian Ningning was pleasantly surprised by the meaning behind his words before she even felt the loss of memory about Lu Ruojiang.
Qian Ningning carefully put away the jade, and looked at Lu Ruojiang with suspicion, "Do you remember?"
"I begged the shopkeeper to let me in to the carving studio for a quick look, and managed to learn a little bit. 'I'll start with wood, and by your birthday, it should be ready to wear,' said Lu Ruojiang, not arrogantly but confidently. Qian Ningning blushed slightly and scolded Lu Ruojiang, 'Who wants to wear your bracelet!' 'Of course, it will be my future wife,' Lu Ruojiang said with a smile as he embraced Qian Ningning. 'Ningning, after fainting, I remembered some things intermittently. When my memory is fully restored, we will get married, okay?'"
Qian Ningning lowered her eyes, her thick, curly black eyelashes fluttering like butterflies, exposing her anxious heart. "Let's talk about what happened after I recover my memory, so that you won't regret it and I won't be disappointed."
Lu Ruojiang sighed softly in her ear and whispered, "It seems I need to work harder to make you trust me more."
Qian Ningning buried her face in Lu Ruojiang's arms, her voice muffled. "No, you've already done enough. It's me... I'm too timid, too afraid to believe in your sincerity, too afraid to bet on the chance that you can choose me firmly."
Seeing this, Lu Ruojiang quickly said, "No rush, we have plenty of time to understand and trust each other in the future. Let's take it slow."
With Lu Ruojiang's comfort, and Qian Ningning not being a fragile girl at heart, her mood quickly calmed down.
Stepping out of Lu Ruojiang's embrace, Qian Ningning smoothed her hair and said, "Okay, go ahead and be busy."
Lu Ruojiang nodded and tidied up with Qian Ningning, creating a quiet yet harmonious atmosphere in the tea shop.
...
Lu Ruojiang has good hands-on skills, not only successfully making a jade bangle, but also carving some simple cloud patterns on it.
Qian Ningning doesn't hold out much hope for Lu Ruojiang's craftsmanship, and even rehearsed with Auntie Li Er how to show enough surprise upon receiving the bracelet. But when she saw the actual item, Qian Ningning realized she had been overly worried. The round-shaped jade bangle with simple yet elegant cloud patterns, along with the moist texture of the jade material, made the bracelet extraordinary at once.
"Did you really do this?" Auntie Li Er looked at Lu Ruojiang with suspicion.
Lu Ruojiang asked back, "Is a bracelet worth lying and deceiving Ningning?"
Auntie Li Er thought for a moment and nodded, "That's true."
Lu Ruojiang looked at Qian Ningning with a smile in his eyes, "I'll put it on for you."
"Okay!"
Auntie Li Er smiled as she looked at this pair of lovers who were like a perfect match, one dashing and suave, the other gentle and beautiful. Auntie Li Er promised that anyone who saw them would not dare to say they were not a perfect match.
The only downside is, "Your bracelet is easy to knock into things when you're working." Auntie Li Er observed for a while and said.
