"What do you think?" Jiang Yubai nudged Shen Qingci.
"I was thinking about why those people in the cafeteria seemed to lose consciousness and go upstairs, even though they didn't break any rules. If it's because they all lined up at windows six and seven, then who will get to go first at dinner time? We won't be able to prevent this," Shen Qingci looked at Jiang Yubai. "I still ask, are the rules really trustworthy?"

"What's wrong? Yubai? Why are you covering my eyes?" Shen Qingci gently grabs Jiang Yubai's wrist, not knowing what he means, and dares not to break free, looking obedient, completely different from before.
"Come out first!" Jiang Yubai still covers his eyes and pulls him out of the bathroom.
After he came out, Jiang Yubai finally breathed a sigh of relief and leaned on Shen Qingci as if he had no strength left. Seeing him like this, Shen Qingci also had some guesses. He firmly held Jiang Yubai with one hand and helped him sit on the edge of the bed, saying, "Was I like those people in the cafeteria just now?" "Can you be more careful..." Jiang Yubai lowered his head, his voice very low and somewhat hoarse. He was really scared just now, scared that Shen Qingci would die, scared of losing him.

"Remember," Shen Qingci nodded, recalling, "Classes are from 8-11 in the morning, with a break from 13-14, and then classes again from 14-17. After that, it should be free time."
"So, after class at 11, we can quickly finish our lunch and look for clues, and after 17, we can also look for clues after dinner," Jiang Yubai said, staring somewhat absentmindedly at the dormitory regulations in his hand.
"But the dormitory has a bed check at 11:30, so it's better for us to come back before it gets dark," Shen Qingci said, as the danger level is too high after dark. "Teaching building, dormitory building, cafeteria, library. I suggest we go to the library first, since we haven't been there yet."
Jiang Yubai nodded in agreement and was about to say something when the dormitory door suddenly opened, and several men in their twenties and thirties walked in, looking mostly dispirited. The leader of the men, upon seeing Jiang Yubai and Shen Qingci, paused for a moment and then nodded politely, "Hello."
"Hello," Jiang Yubai hesitated for a moment, then smiled back and raised the paper in his hand, "We just found the dormitory rules. Let's take a look together."

The dormitory fell silent for a moment.

Hearing this, everyone dispersed and found a bed to lie down on.
The dormitory beds are traditional bunk beds, with four beds on the left and four beds on the right. In the middle, to the left, there is a communal table, and to the right, there is a glass door leading to a narrow balcony that can only accommodate two or three people. In the corner, there are two pots of green plants with yellowing leaves. The bathroom is on the left as soon as you enter the door.
The beds are very old, the quilts are damp, and there are some unknown marks on the sheets. Additionally, when one person moves on this type of bed, it causes the entire row of four beds to creak.
Jiang Yubai chose the lower bunk near the table, and Shen Qingci is above him.
The dormitory is very quiet, with only shallow breathing. After all, there is a rule of "do not disturb roommates' rest."
He definitely can't sleep. Jiang Yubai is not that broad-minded yet, but it's also good to relax with his eyes closed for a while. He was really scared by Shen Qingci just now.
Thinking like this, he changed from the posture of staring at the bed board above with his hands crossed behind his head to lying on his side facing the wall.
One second before closing his eyes, Jiang Yubai saw a small black hole on the yellowed wall. He leaned in to take a closer look, but it was pitch black inside, and he couldn't see anything. "How could there be a hole here?" Jiang Yubai wondered. He wanted to move closer to observe it again, but suddenly, as if he had remembered something, he froze in place. Jiang Yubai felt his hair stand on end, and a chill ran down his spine, causing cold sweat to instantly soak his back.
Because he suddenly thought of a possibility, that perhaps it was not a pitch black hole, but an eye. An eye that stared unblinkingly at him, at everything in the room. Though he wasn't certain and couldn't verify, just the thought alone was terrifying enough. He decided to climb out of bed and quietly sat in the chair in front of the table.
Shen Qingci noticed his actions and quietly asked him with her lips, "What's wrong?"
"Will tell you later," Jiang Yubai shook his head at her.
In the blink of an eye, it was almost 13:40. Shen Qingci got up from the bed and called Jiang Yubai to go to class with her.
As soon as he walked out of the dormitory building, Jiang Yubai couldn't wait to tell Shen Qingci about the situation just now. "The second rule of the dormitory regulations states that the dormitory is for eight people, but there are only seven. There is no ninth person." Jiang Yubai's tone was flat. "Doesn't that mean there might already be someone in the dormitory?"
Shen Qingci shivered at what he said. "So the meaning of the ninth person is, perhaps another ghost will come tonight?"
"How can we go on like this?"
"You sleep on the top bunk tonight." Shen Qingci put his arm around Jiang Yubai's shoulder, feeling the slight tremble beneath his palm.
"No, we're not going back to the dorm tonight," Jiang Yubai said, looking up at him with determination in his eyes.
