Yao Zhandong stood at the door with a furrowed brow. "Why are you locking the door in broad daylight?" 0

"I'm changing clothes," she replied. 0

Yao Zhandong looked at her, puzzled, noticing that she was still wearing the same outfit as when she had just entered. 0

She added quietly, "I was just about to change." 0

The two women exchanged glances for a moment before Yao Zhandong cleared his throat. "School is starting soon. Have you packed your things?" 0

Yao Nian felt perplexed. How could someone who forgot where his own daughter was going to college suddenly start caring about these trivial matters? 0

Yao Zhandong continued, "Return your ticket. I'll take you there and check out your school environment." 0

Yao Nian raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What kind of expression is that?" Yao Zhandong frowned. 0

"Is this an outburst of fatherly love?" 0

Yao Zhandong shot her a glare. "What's so strange about a father sending his daughter off to school?" 0

After saying this, he turned and walked away, leaving Yao Nian in a daze. 0

She had initially planned to pack light, but since Yao Zhandong was going to take her, she quickly filled a large box with all the items she had previously debated over—things she wanted to bring but thought would take up too much space. 0

Just before setting off, Yao Nian received a gift from Qiao Shuzhen, who had sent it all the way from Australia. 0

It was a Fujifilm camera. 0

Along with it were several photos and a handwritten card. 0

The card read: 0
"Darling, I hope you can record life in your own favorite way. 0
I also hope your eyes can always see the stars. 0
Forever love you, Mom." 0

Her handwriting remained as exquisite and delicate as ever, each stroke revealing warmth and tenderness. 0

In the photos, Qiao Shuzhen wore a pure white long dress, adorned with a stylish black hat and bright red lips, standing gracefully in front of the Sydney Opera House. 0

Bathed in sunlight, she smiled at the camera, radiating an almost ethereal glow. 0

Yao Nian suddenly recalled what Shen Du had said. Everyone has the right to spend their life in a way they deem appropriate. Compared to the endless arguments and tearful days, her photo showed her smiling brightly, radiantly alive. In that moment, Yao Nian felt a sense of relief wash over her. 0

She carefully tucked the photo away, placing it alongside the one with Shen Du in the compartment of her suitcase. Perhaps she should buy two more frames, Yao Nian thought. 0

On the day of departure, Uncle Cheng, the driver, saw the three enormous suitcases Yao Nian had left in the living room and promptly switched the Land Rover for a seven-seater business van without hesitation. Just the other day, Yao Nian had teased Xu Jiayi about moving house, and now she couldn't help but chuckle at her own situation as she finished packing. 0

As she watched white smoke billowing out from the study, she shouted, "Stop smoking! It's time to leave!" 0

Yao Zhantong emerged from the study, reeking of smoke. Yao Nian pinched her nose and looked at him. "Have you been smoking too much lately? I can smell it from ten feet away." 0

Ignoring her, Yao Zhantong turned his head to glance outside. "Why did they switch to this vehicle?" 0

Yao Nian picked up her bag. Uncle Cheng mentioned that there was too much luggage and not enough space. 0
