"Hey, is that girl really President Yao's daughter?" Ji Zheyuan raised his chin slightly at him.
"Stop calling her 'girl' all the time," he frowned. "She has a name."
"I think I've only met President Yao once, right? I don't have a deep impression, but I didn't expect his daughter to be so beautiful," Ji Zheyuan sighed, especially recalling how she called him 'brother'—it made his bones feel weak.
Shen Du crossed his arms and stared at him.
"What kind of expression is that?" Ji Zheyuan felt a bit uneasy under his gaze.
"I just want to see what else you can come up with," Shen Du replied.
Ji Zheyuan took off his gloves. "I was just expressing my feelings. But if I were ten years younger, who knows..."
"Hey, hey, hey? Why are you taking pictures of me?"
"I'm sending it to Xiaolin so she can see your true colors," Shen Du said.
"Stop messing around. I was just joking," Ji Zheyuan thought for a moment and added, "Wait a minute, why are you talking about me? You brought a young girl to your office late at night; what were your intentions?"
"Use your brain. She's only nineteen," Shen Du explained with a blank expression. "I bought her a small gift and happened to be nearby for dinner, so I thought I'd give it to her."
Ji Zheyuan scoffed, "You seem quite considerate of her."
"I'm also considerate of you. How about you bring that set of Berlin sound equipment back to me tomorrow?"
Ji Zheyuan fell silent for a moment. "How can such cold words come out of your mouth?"
Shen Du took a sip of water and felt the need to add, "Her father got divorced. The girl is studying in Shanghai alone and isn't familiar with the area. I thought it would be nice to take care of her a bit more."
Suddenly, Ji Zheyuan slapped the table. "Yao Nian is from Huada, right?"
"Huh?"
"I thought so. Former Old Xie invited our law firm to give a lecture. It was all set for me to go, but then you suddenly said you would go instead. I was puzzled; aren't you usually uninterested in such public appearances?"
Shen Du glanced at him lightly and replied with three words: "I enjoy it."
When Yao Nian returned to her dormitory, Fang Yidian was still wearing headphones, wrapped in a small blanket while sitting cross-legged on a chair, munching on a bag of chips and giggling at the variety show on the computer screen.
"Yidian, are you feeling better?" She closed the door behind her.
"Much better!" Fang Yidian said as she crunched on the chips. "I'm feeling great now; everything tastes delicious!"
Lin Mo swung one leg over the edge of the bed, swaying back and forth. "Aren't you waiting for Yao Nian? She's back; why aren't you asking her?"
Fang Yiran hurriedly set down her chips, pulled out a chair, and began rummaging through the wardrobe.
"What should I ask?" Yao Nian put down what she was holding and glanced at Gu Rufen's empty bed. "Is she not back yet? I saw the dormitory manager lock the door."
"Let them lock it," Lin Mo replied nonchalantly. "When have you ever seen her leave without telling us?"
Yao Nian felt a bit uneasy and sent Gu Rufen a message.
"Yao Nian," Fang Yiran said, clutching a few pieces of clothing, looking somewhat awkward. She hesitated before asking, "Could you help me pick an outfit? I have a date tomorrow."
Lin Mo kindly finished her sentence for her: "To impress the one you like."
Yao Nian's eyes widened in surprise. "You have a boyfriend? Is he from our school?"
"No!" Fang Yiran's face turned red as she spoke softly. "He's not really my boyfriend yet; he's from the School of Finance. He asked me out to watch a movie tomorrow."
"That's great news!" Yao Nian smiled, taking the clothes from her arms. "Should we pick one from these?"
"Yeah," Fang Yiran replied. "I think your clothes always look good; I feel like your taste is better."
Lin Mo shot them both a glance. "I feel like I've been hit hard."
She climbed down from the bed along the railing and questioned Fang Yiran, "How did you manage to secretly meet someone from the Finance Department right under our noses?"
"What are you talking about?" Fang Yiran explained with a blush. "He was my senior in high school. I only found out he was at Huada after returning home for National Day, and that's when we got back in touch."
"Sweetheart," Yao Nian said while flipping through the clothes in her hands, "Listen to me: throw away the first and third pieces, and get rid of the second one far away."
