Shen Du: Let me know if you need anything else.
The man's clothes were quite oversized on her, just enough to cover her backside. Although it was short-sleeved, the underfloor heating in the room kept her from feeling too cold.
Yao Nian burrowed into the blankets, basking in the warm sunlight that enveloped her with his scent. She wasn't sure if it was because she had slept enough in the car, but at that moment, she felt completely awake, staring blankly at the ceiling with no trace of drowsiness.
Fragments of the evening replayed uncontrollably in her mind—the man's strong chest, the rolling of his Adam's apple, and the intoxicating kiss that left her breathless.
After a few seconds, it seemed she finally reacted. She grabbed a pillow from the side and buried her face in it, rolling around on the bed. Little did she expect that her movements would be too vigorous; Yao Nian rolled off the edge of the bed and landed on the floor with a thud.
"Ouch!"
Her knee hit the floor hard, and she winced in pain, about to cry out but quickly covering her mouth with her hand instead. Taking a deep breath, she slowly exhaled until the pain subsided just enough for her to sit up.
Looking down, she noticed a bruise forming on her right knee.
What a classic case of joy turning to sorrow. Thankfully, the soundproofing in this place was decent; Shen Du likely hadn't heard her tumble. Yao Nian sat on the floor for a while to collect herself before limping back to bed.
That fall had successfully shifted her focus, and eventually, she managed to fall asleep again. When she woke up again, still groggy, she checked her phone and realized it was nearly noon.
There were two messages from Shen Du sent an hour ago on WeChat:
"I stepped out for a bit."
"There are sandwiches in the kitchen; eat breakfast when you wake up."
Yao Nian replied quickly before throwing off the covers and getting out of bed.
As soon as her feet hit the floor, a dull ache shot through her right knee. She brushed it off and made her bed before heading into the bathroom to wash up.
While brushing her teeth, the doorbell rang a few times. Yao Nian thought it might be Shen Du returning. After rinsing out her mouth, she bounced over to open the door.
Ji Zheyuan's words faltered as he looked at the person in front of him, his eyes widening in shock.
The girl squinted slightly, her messy long hair cascading over her chest, and a loose white top draped over her thighs, leaving her slender legs completely exposed and glowing white.
"Zheyuan Ge?" Yao Nian blinked in surprise.
Hearing her familiar voice snapped Ji Zheyuan out of his daze, and he stammered, "Yao Yao Yao... Yao Nian?!"
He even looked up to confirm the house number once more.
Yao Nian withdrew her hand from the door handle, feeling a bit awkward as she scratched her head. "How did you end up here?"
Before she could explain, a voice came from behind Ji Zheyuan: "What are you doing standing there?"
Ji Zheyuan turned around abruptly to see Shen Du standing behind him, holding two large bags.
Shen Du followed Ji Zheyuan's gaze into the house, his expression shifting as he frowned and lightly coughed. "You should go change your clothes first."
Yao Nian lowered her head shyly and suddenly realized she had run out like this!
Embarrassed, she didn't dare lift her head and hurriedly limped back to Shen Du's room.
Watching her awkward gait, Ji Zheyuan slowly turned back around, his face a mix of disbelief and incredulity.
Shen Du took off his jacket and placed the items on the dining table. He glanced at Ji Zheyuan again and said, "Are you coming in or not? If not, I'm closing the door."
Ji Zheyuan angrily kicked off his shoes and unleashed a torrent of words at him. "What the hell! Are you even human? She's only nineteen! Nineteen! She calls you 'uncle' with every breath!"
He fumed, "Doesn't your conscience hurt?"
