"No, Shen Du is just laughing. Why are you so excited?"
"How can I not be excited?" Ji Zheyuan pointed at the bedroom door. "How old is this girl?"
Shen Du wasn't surprised by his reaction; after all, their age difference was evident, and any normal person would react that way.
Shen Du tilted his chin towards the bathroom at the back of the living room. "Need to use the restroom?"
Ji Zheyuan looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"First, clear out the nonsense in your head."
Ji Zheyuan paused for a moment, staring at him in confusion. "So you didn't bully her?"
Shen Du's eyes were filled with helplessness. "I wouldn't go that far."
Ji Zheyuan sighed in relief, but just as he settled onto the sofa, Shen Du changed the subject. "However, we are indeed together now."
His expression visibly twisted in disbelief.
Ji Zheyuan opened his mouth and painfully uttered two words: "Beast."
Shen Du responded with a faint "Mm," then got up and walked to the door, knocking lightly. "Change your clothes and come out for breakfast."
After saying that, he returned to the kitchen and placed three dishes into the microwave.
Ji Zheyuan followed him, looking bewildered. "Shen, may I ask where your moral standards are? What about your professional ethics?"
"We lawyers only talk about the law; when have we ever talked about morals?"
The microwave beeped, and Shen Du took out the dishes, pouring freshly bought milk over them with deliberate slowness. "Legally speaking, she's of age, I'm single and unmarried, and we aren't related by blood or within three generations of collateral relatives. So why can't we be together?"
Ji Zheyuan opened his mouth but couldn't find his voice for a long time.
The door lock clicked softly, and Yao Nian walked out of the room slowly, fully dressed but looking a bit unsteady on her feet.
Shen Du brought the dishes and milk to the dining table. "What happened to your leg?"
"I accidentally bumped into the bedpost."
As soon as Yao Nian sat down, she noticed Ji Zheyuan staring at her with a look of deep concern.
"What's wrong?" she asked, somewhat puzzled.
Seeing Shen Du walking towards the living room, Ji Zheyuan pulled out a chair and sat across from her, asking earnestly, "Sister, tell me honestly—did Shen Du bully you?"
"No way," Yao Nian said as she took a bite of the candy.
"So you two are really together now?"
Without hesitation, she nodded.
"Damn it!" Ji Zheyuan exclaimed, "This Shen Du really doesn't treat people like people!"
Yao Nian was drinking her milk when she choked at his words. They had just started dating and had already been forced to announce it twice—once by Zhou Shiyi and once by Ji Zheyuan. Regardless of who it was, their first reaction was to find it absurd; simply because of the age difference, they naturally viewed Shen Du as the one at fault.
But she was the one who liked him first.
Yao Nian felt a twinge of discomfort. "Brother Zheyuan, actually, I liked him first..."
Just then, Shen Du walked over, carrying a medical kit. Her words were abruptly cut off.
He opened the kit and crouched down in front of Yao Nian, expertly locating the bruise on her knee.
The gesture made her feel a bit embarrassed.
Yao Nian glanced at Ji Zheyuan and instinctively shrank back. "I can do it myself."
Shen Du held onto her calf and frowned. "This bruise is already turning purple. How long has it been like this?"
"Since last night."
"Then why didn't you say anything?"
