Their gazes fell upon her, and Yao Nian cleared her throat. "He is my boyfriend."
Yu Yi let out a surprised "Ah," his pupils widening in shock.
He awkwardly waved his hand. "I won't disturb you then."
After Yu Yi left, Shen Du looked at her with a meaningful expression.
Yao Nian coughed lightly and gestured forward. "Um, I’ll go get some coffee."
She squeezed through the crowd, retrieved two cups of coffee, and handed the hot one to Shen Du. "Here."
"In this weather, who drinks something cold?" Shen Du took the Matcha Frappuccino from her hand and returned the hot latte.
Yao Nian tugged at the scarf around her neck. "But I'm hot; I'm already sweating."
Shen Du leisurely replied, "A calm heart brings coolness."
Yao Nian frowned.
They walked along with the flow of people toward the theater. Yu Yi was likely in the same screening as them, separated by a few people as they queued to check tickets.
The boy occasionally glanced back at them, a scene that Shen Du observed keenly.
He withdrew his gaze and casually asked, "Was that boy from your school?"
"No, he’s a year older than me."
"How do you know him?"
"He helped me move in when school started."
Yao Nian looked at him, puzzled. "Why?"
Shen Du's gaze followed the boy's direction. After a few seconds, he spoke lightly, "The moon?"
"What?"
She suddenly realized and stiffened her resolve. "Of course not."
Unable to help herself, Yao Nian glanced at him again. When he wasn't smiling, he appeared somewhat serious, giving off an impression that he wasn't happy.
She felt a bit confused; could it be because of Yu Yi?
Once seated, the lights in the theater gradually dimmed. They had booked their tickets late, so they ended up with a not-so-great spot—third row from the back against the wall.
Shen Du's mood was somewhat affected, not because of Yu Yi, but because the thought of the little girl harboring someone like a white moonlight in her heart made him uncomfortable. To make matters worse, this person had made his girl cry so sadly.
What nonsense.
As the film began, a rustling sound came from beside him. The armrest between their seats was lifted, and a small hand wrapped around his arm.
Shen Du's brow twitched, but his expression remained indifferent. It was a public place; he needed to maintain decorum.
Yao Nian, full of rebellious spirit, thought to herself, What’s wrong with wanting to be closer to my boyfriend?
To prove her point, she deliberately leaned closer to Shen Du and tilted her chin up to plant a kiss at the corner of his mouth.
Suddenly, Shen Du realized that this girl was trying to coax him.
Yao Nian revealed a triumphant smile and turned her head to focus on the movie.
Her jaw was suddenly grasped; the man's fingertip pressed against her lower lip, and without giving her a chance to react, he leaned in and kissed her. A chill spread through her mouth.
It carried the rich scent of matcha.
Yao Nian let out a soft sound of surprise, staring at him in shock.
After a moment, Shen Du released her.
She bit her lip and shyly said, "Don’t you know there are cameras in the cinema?"
"I do," Shen Du replied casually.
"Then why are you so bold?"
The man leaned back against the chair, his gaze returning to the screen. In the dim light that flickered softly, the corners of his lips gradually curved into a smile as he drawled, "What’s wrong with kissing my girlfriend?"
