"Hey, why are you drinking so fast?"
After clearing her stomach, Fang Yi finally started to feel a bit better.
Yao Nian helped her to the sink to rinse her mouth. She wasn't sure if it was the higher alcohol content of the beer here, but she felt a bit dizzy and her steps were unsteady, though her mind was still relatively clear.
Fang Yi leaned heavily against her, as if she had no bones at all. Yao Nian held her up with one hand while trying to grab some paper towels from the dispenser with the other.
The sink was still wet, and as Yao Nian supported Fang Yi, her hand slipped, nearly causing both of them to fall.
A voice came from behind them, "Need some help?" A few paper towels appeared in front of them.
Yao Nian struggled to keep Fang Yi upright and turned to look. The man had a relaxed expression, and under the light, she could see a faint beauty mark at the corner of his eye.
Wasn't he the bar owner from earlier?
"Ah, thank you," she said as she took the paper towels and wiped Fang Yi's mouth. "Could you help me call my friend? I might not be able to get her out by myself."
Xiao Chi glanced outside. "I saw your friend step out to take a call when I came in. Let me help you get her out."
As he spoke, he used his elbow to support Fang Yi's arm. Though he didn't touch her directly, it made Yao Nian feel much more at ease.
"Are you from Huada?" Xiao Chi asked, tilting his head slightly.
Yao Nian paused for a moment. "How did you know?"
"Most of the people who come here are from Huada, but you looked unfamiliar."
She gave a small hum in response and didn't continue the conversation.
In such close proximity, without much makeup on her face, her clear eyes sparkled, and a slight blush from the alcohol made her look quite beautiful.
In fact, Xiao Chi had noticed her as soon as she stepped into the bar. She was simply dressed in a plain shirt and light blue jeans, exuding a clean and pure aura that stood in stark contrast to the bar's intoxicating atmosphere, making it hard for him to look away.
After helping Fang Yi to a seat, Xiao Chi snapped his fingers.
A waiter quickly approached and slightly bowed his head. "Xiao Ge."
"Bring over a few bottles of mineral water."
After finishing the call, Lin Mo looked at Fang Yi, who was lying on the couch with her eyes closed. "Are you asleep?"
Yao Nian rubbed her sore arms. She had just thrown up in the restroom, and she hadn’t seen Fang Yi drink that much. How could she be this drunk?
Sigh, it’s not the alcohol that gets people drunk; it’s the mood. Lin Mo shook her head helplessly.
Yao Nian felt her dizziness becoming more pronounced and asked Lin Mo, "Should we head out soon?"
"Let’s wait a bit longer," Lin Mo replied, nodding towards the stage in front of them. "Didn’t they say there would be a live band? Since we’re here, let’s listen to them before we leave."
The lights in the bar dimmed suddenly, and Xiao Chi walked to the center of the stage with a guitar in hand.
A wave of light applause erupted from the crowd.
Lin Mo rubbed her palms together, excitement lighting up her face. It was the boss performing himself!
The man sat on a high stool, his head bowed slightly, a faint smirk playing on his lips, exuding a nonchalant charm. He gently strummed the strings, producing a series of crisp notes.
The previously noisy atmosphere gradually quieted down.
As the prelude began, his cool voice flowed from his lips. He was playing Zhao Zihua's "Are You Still There?"
Yao Nian had to admit that Xiao Chi's voice suited this song perfectly, especially when he sang the line about missing someone clearly out of reach, dreams that couldn't be awakened—his tone was rich and languid, like dark tea infused with smoke.
Just as Lin Mo was lost in the music, her phone vibrated. Annoyed, she glanced at the caller ID and then turned to Yao Nian.
"Oh my gosh, why is Lawyer Shen calling me?"
