"I want to close the door."
"Close what? It's not like you haven't seen it before."
Yao Nian felt like her bladder was about to burst. "Why do you keep following me?"
Shen Du fell silent for a moment. "I'm afraid you'll suddenly run off like last time."
She held her stomach, on the verge of tears. "I've already told you I'm not angry!"
"I don't believe you." Shen Du leaned against the doorframe. "You didn't even hold my hand when we went upstairs today."
Yao Nian thought he was just looking for trouble. She pushed him out the door and slammed it shut with a bang.
After using the restroom, she took a quick shower, dried her hair, and leisurely completed her skincare routine before opening the door again.
A wall of a person stood in front of her.
"You..."
Shen Du squeezed in behind her, wrapping his arms around her from behind, burying his face in her neck. "Really not angry?"
Yao Nian looked at him in the mirror and tilted her head with a smile. "Did you hear everything?"
Shen Du replied with a soft "Mm," his voice sounding somewhat gloomy.
His past with Ren Ran couldn't be changed. He believed it had ended cleanly, and she had made her stance clear more than once. Yet, he still couldn't prevent Ren Ran from repeatedly hurting Yao Nian.
He hadn't wanted things to get too messy, but Yao Nian was his bottom line.
"I'll find a chance to talk to her clearly," Shen Du said.
"No way," Yao Nian shot back coldly. "I don't want you to meet her alone."
"What if she comes looking for you again?"
Yao Nian huffed. "I'll handle it; I've never lost an argument in my life."
Seeing that she had no bad emotions, Shen Du finally felt a bit relieved. He leaned down and kissed her earlobe. "Next month is my grandma's birthday. Would you like to come with me to Rongcheng?"
Yao Nian paused for a moment. "Are your family members all going to be there?"
"Of course."
"Didn't you say you weren't planning to tell them so soon?"
At first, he claimed it was to avoid putting pressure on her, but now, Shen Du chuckled softly. "I suddenly feel like giving you a bit of pressure is a good thing. It saves us from having to talk about not making any assumptions about the future."
Yao Nian shot him a glance. "You hold grudges, don't you?"
After saying that, she felt a wave of anxiety wash over her. Wasn't this a bit too sudden? Celebrating an elder's birthday was a big deal; what kind of gift would be appropriate? Oh right, and what about your parents? She mentally noted that she had everything ready for them.
"You just need to show up," Shen Du said, casually unbuttoning his shirt.
"How can that be enough?" Before she could finish her sentence, Yao Nian found herself staring at his bare torso, her eyes slowly forming a question mark. "What are you doing?"
"Taking a shower."
"Oh."
Just as she was about to push the door open, her wrist was suddenly caught.
Shen Du's voice came from beside her, laced with an enticing tone. "Want to join me?"
Yao Nian silently shifted her gaze away from his abs and cleared her throat seriously. "I've already showered."
"Then let's wash again."
