During the summer vacation of her junior year, Yao Nian began preparing for the bar exam and officially started her internship journey. She declined Shen Du's suggestion to intern at Xincheng, claiming it was to avoid any conflicts of interest. With a recommendation from her advisor, she successfully passed the interview and secured an internship in the legal department of a company.
A week after starting, Shen Du received a call from Xie Baiyu.
"Your little girl is quite capable; I haven't found a chance to take care of her," Xie Baiyu said.
Shen Du chuckled, "Just don't let her get too tired."
"Oh, come on! But I must remind you, several guys in our department have their eyes on her."
Shen Du paused for a moment, then replied, "Got it," before hanging up.
"Hey, wait a minute," Xie Baiyu hurriedly added. "I’m sending you intel every day. About that law business training thing, shouldn’t you reserve a spot for us?"
"I’ll save one for you, but it’ll have to wait; the firm is busy right now."
"Make sure you come in person when the time comes," Xie Baiyu insisted.
After hanging up, Shen Du looked at the graduation photo in the frame and couldn’t help but smile. However, his smile quickly faded; the little girl was so charming and now she was far away, which made him feel a bit anxious.
On a sunny afternoon that made one feel drowsy, the delivery guy emerged from the elevator, panting as he carried two large bags filled to the brim.
The receptionist helped take them and called out inside, "Who ordered coffee?"
No one responded.
She glanced at the delivery slip and her gaze landed on Yao Nian’s name. With a smile, she shouted, "Yao Nian! Your boyfriend said he’s treating everyone to afternoon tea!"
"Wow!"
The atmosphere instantly became lively.
Yao Nian had been dozing off amidst a pile of documents when she heard this and jolted awake, quickly making her way to the front desk.
Others rushed over to grab their coffee, enviously commenting, "Look how thoughtful her boyfriend is! Yao Nian just joined us and he’s already so generous."
She snatched the delivery slip and saw a name written on it—very straightforward.

She was frantically typing on WeChat.
"Did you order the afternoon tea?"
Shen Du replied instantly, "Otherwise, do you have another boyfriend?"
"I was just wondering why you suddenly treated everyone to coffee?"
"Just asserting my claim, so my girl won't be pestered by others all day."
Yao Nian:
That day, Yao Nian stood in the chairman's office, staring at a few plump fish in the aquarium that had turned belly-up, lost in a long contemplation.
It was tinged with despair.
Ten minutes later, she sent a message to Xie Baiyu, who was on a business trip to Yuan Nan City.
"Mr. Xie, is your business trip going smoothly?"
"Yeah."
"The fish you told me to feed are quite beautiful."
"?"
"What kind of fish are these? Where can I buy them?"
The chat box kept showing that she was typing.
A minute later, Xie Baiyu replied.
"How many died?"
As expected, a leader was indeed a leader.
Yao Nian's anxious heart finally sank along with those plump fish.
"All of them."
