Yao Nian furrowed her brows and stepped aside. "Let me out."
Just as she tried to pass him to reach the door, Zhao Zeyang grabbed her wrist tightly.
"I know you don't like me, but that's okay," Zhao Zeyang said, his eyes half-closed, greedily scanning her from top to bottom. "Even if I can have you just once, it's worth it."
As she watched the man slowly close in on her, Yao Nian's drunkenness faded away, replaced by an indescribable fear.
Shen Du had just arrived at Mai Island. As soon as he walked through the door, he saw Cen Shujie hurriedly exiting the corridor.
"Ah, Lawyer Shen, how did you get here so quickly?"
Noticing her unusual expression, Shen Du began to search with his eyes. "Which private room?"
Cen Shujie hesitated for a moment but deliberately glanced toward a nearby private room. "Her room... Why don't you wait here for a bit? I'll go get her."
Shen Du strode forward. Just as he reached the door, he heard a commotion inside, accompanied by the sound of a bottle shattering.
"Let go of me!"
Recognizing Yao Nian's voice, Shen Du's heart tightened. He kicked the private room door open.
What he saw next ignited a fire of rage within him. His girl was terrified, her hair disheveled, struggling helplessly beneath a man who was overpowering her.
Shen Du's blood boiled as he rushed forward and grabbed the man's collar, yanking him away from Yao Nian.
Zhao Zeyang had yet to react when he was suddenly knocked to the ground by Shen Du's immense strength.
Shen Du glared at the man on the floor, his eyes bloodshot; all rational thought was obliterated by his fury.
He picked up a jagged bottle from the ground, ready to smash it down on the man.
Yao Nian sensed the impending danger. She knew that if Shen Du struck with that bottle, his career would be ruined forever.
In a desperate move, she rushed forward and wrapped her arms around Shen Du, forcing his face to turn toward hers. "Calm down! Calm down! I've already called the police!"
Shen Du's chest heaved heavily as his breathing grew more labored. The look in his eyes was one Yao Nian had never seen before—ferocious and unyielding.
Suppressing her own emotions, Yao Nian pried his fingers open one by one until she managed to snatch the beer bottle from his grasp. Only when she confirmed that Shen Du would not make any further moves did she finally collapse in relief.
Cen Shujie, who had been standing at the door witnessing everything unfold, suddenly panicked.
Her intention was to let Shen Du catch sight of the two entangled individuals, but she ensured that Yao Nian was completely drunk before allowing Zhao Zeyang to take action.
The police arrived quickly, bringing along Cen Shujie, who had been implicated by Zhao Zeyang. The four of them were taken to the police station together. On the way, Shen Du could feel the girl in his arms trembling, so he held her a little tighter and called Xie Baiyu to demand an explanation.
In the mediation room, Officer Chen walked in and sat across from them.
"Here’s the situation: we have a pretty good understanding of what happened, and we've reviewed the surveillance footage. It confirms that the other party committed strong sexual assault. They are willing to negotiate and compensate. I’d like to ask if you are open to reconciliation."
"No reconciliation," Shen Du interrupted coldly. "Moreover, I do not agree that this constitutes strong sexual assault. The other party violated the woman's will, which is clearly intentional and purposeful. They attempted to commit a crime without success due to external factors. This qualifies as an attempted crime, and I hope your department can initiate an investigation immediately."
Officer Chen was taken aback and hesitantly asked, "May I ask what line of work you are in, Shen?"
