Seeing him, Yao Nian felt a bit embarrassed. After all, he never accepted the money she had offered before. Although it wasn't much, it was still a personal favor that she had left unpaid all this time.
She chuckled awkwardly, "So, what brings you here?"
Xiao Chi nodded towards the building behind her. "I came to pick up my girlfriend."
Yao Nian was taken aback for a moment, then turned to look and sincerely offered her congratulations. "Congratulations!"
In her arms, she held a few books, and the large star and moon diamond ring on her ring finger was hard to miss.
Xiao Chi paused for a moment, surprised. "You got married?"
Yao Nian glanced at her finger and smiled. "We got our marriage certificate last year but haven't had the chance to hold the wedding yet."
He opened his mouth as if to say something but ultimately sighed instead. "Make sure to invite me to the wedding. Don't forget you still owe me a meal."
"Of course," Yao Nian replied with a smile. "Remember to bring your girlfriend along."
As the sun set, the man stood against the light under the camphor tree along the shaded path, his posture straight like a pine tree, not knowing how long he had been standing there.
They exchanged glances again, and Xiao Chi smiled lightly. "Alright, you should get going."
Just like countless times before, Yao Nian bounced over to his side and asked, "You didn’t tell me you were here! Have you been waiting long?"
Shen Du remained silent as he took the bag from her hands and walked ahead with an expressionless face.
Her husband seemed to be in a bad mood?
Yao Nian hurried after him, tugging at his sleeve. "Shen Lawyer?"
The man did not respond.
"Uncle Shen?"
Then, a soft voice with a drawn-out tone came from behind them.
"Honey..."
Shen Du finally stopped walking, wearing an expression that was neither smiling nor frowning. He said lightly, "Looks like you had quite a nice chat?"
Yao Nian laughed. "Someone seems a bit jealous."
"It’s just a greeting," she said. "And he came to pick up his girlfriend."

Yao Nian gently poked his cheek with her finger. "If you smile, I'll tell you some news."
Shen Du turned to look at her, puzzled.
She stood on her tiptoes, chuckling softly as she cupped her hands around his ear and whispered, "I'm pregnant."
As the words fell, she noticed the sudden change in his expression, as if he could hardly contain himself, his brows and eyes filled with overwhelming joy.
"Really?" Shen Du didn't even realize how unstable his breath had become when he asked those two words.
Yao Nian smiled and opened the report on her phone for him to see.
As dusk deepened, the streetlights along the tree-lined path flickered to life one by one. Behind them were the lights of the city, while in front was the sunset. The evening breeze that brushed against them was softer than the clouds, and their shadows stretched long on the ground.
The girl turned to look at the man holding her hand, his profile more radiant than the sunset.
For a moment, she felt as if the gentle twilight around them paled in comparison to him.
