A mother and son tragically died after returning home on the night of the Ghost Festival. The woman was found naked, lying in the bathtub, while her son was discovered hanging in the wardrobe like a piece of clothing.
The investigation dragged on for months with no leads, and strange occurrences continued to plague the area.

It was Ghost Festival, a day when everyone busied themselves honoring their deceased loved ones.
As evening approached, accompanied by gusts of wind and rustling leaves, A Mei hurried home with her son in tow.
A Mei tightly grasped her son's hand, walking briskly while occasionally glancing around warily.
However, no one could have anticipated that after that, they would mysteriously leave this world. Early the next morning, A Mei's daughter returned home and knocked on the door, but no one answered, and her calls went unanswered.
Feeling that something was seriously wrong, she quickly called a locksmith. When the locksmith opened the door and she stepped inside, she was immediately struck with horror and collapsed to the floor, covering her eyes with her hands and trembling uncontrollably.
Her mother, A Mei, was found lifeless in the bathtub, completely naked.
As the daughter screamed for help, she shakily dialed the police.
Investigators rushed to the scene and discovered the victim lying on her back in the bathtub, her hands bound, a towel stuffed in her mouth, and a deep strangulation mark around her neck. It was evident that she had been assaulted before her death, indicating that the perpetrator had a deeply disturbed psyche.
One investigator crouched down to examine the strangulation mark on the victim's neck, his brow furrowed and expression grave.
What was even more distressing was that A Mei's young son, Xiao Zhe, was missing. An uneasy tension enveloped the investigators present as they immediately began searching the room.
When they opened the wardrobe door, a shocking sight met their eyes: a body hanging inside.
"It was an immense shock; it was incredibly overwhelming. I don't think anyone can accept such a scene," said a young officer, his face pale and his voice trembling.
The forensic team believed that the perpetrator had first strangled Xiao Zhe before hanging him up like a piece of clothing in the wardrobe.
Seeing such a horrific scene made everyone gasp in disbelief.
The investigators suspected that this resembled a case of revenge killing. The tragedy had struck, casting a shadow of fear over the entire town.
The victim's husband was devastated and claimed he had never made enemies; he simply could not fathom who could be so cruel.

It was reported that the victim, A Mei, was 34 years old and had two daughters and a son. Over a year ago, she had been running an internet café downstairs from her home.
Later, the couple took their son, Xiao Zhe, to Shanghai for business. They had only returned in early July; how could they possibly have made enemies?
At the same time, a crime of passion was ruled out, leaving only one possibility: murder for financial gain.
According to the homeowner, 7,000 yuan in cash was missing, which undoubtedly had been taken by the murderer.
