Huo Chanyi did not go back on his word; he arranged a place for her to stay. Yan Gang's subordinate led her into the room, glancing back at her with a scrutinizing gaze that finally settled on a hint of disdain as he said, "With someone like you, I really don't understand how the boss could be interested..."
What was he talking about? Why did she not understand a single word? Chun Yuejing was completely bewildered.
After a long day of exhaustion, all she wanted was to sleep. She widened her eyes and scanned her new home... After staring blankly for a while, she quietly stepped out of the room.
She admitted that as an ordinary person who had never seen much of the world, she wished the Underworld Boss wouldn't scare her like this.
A small apartment would have sufficed; she felt unworthy of living in such a luxurious villa! She felt guilty!
Why did she always have the feeling that she would end up being pampered and fattened up, only to face consequences later?
And why was Huo Chanyi's room right next door?!
Wasn't he afraid she would dig up his dirty secrets again?
After pondering for a while, Chun Yuejing finally realized—it was a test!
She squatted by the door with her suitcase hesitating when Huo Chanyi returned, wrapped in a towel after his bath. "Why aren't you going in?"
Huo Chanyi raised an eyebrow, a knowing smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
She stared at him in shock, then glanced at his slightly ostentatious outfit... He had no shame at all! Even as someone else's "little lover," he still flaunted himself so brazenly!
Ignoring his smile, Chun Yuejing confirmed again, "I’m staying... here?"
Huo Chanyi's sharp gaze swept over her. "Do you have any complaints?"
Chun Yuejing shook her head vigorously, quickly forcing a smile. "Of course not!"
It wasn't that she didn't dare; she was just afraid that this pie might hide some tricks!
With a forced smile, Chun Yuejing asked again, "Um, boss Huo, about the job you helped me find..."
"Didn't anyone tell you?"
"Told me what?"
"Starting today, you will be my exclusive personal secretary." Huo Chanyi said with a broad smile, clearly pleased by Chun Yuejing's stunned expression. He continued, "Oh, and it's a twenty-four-hour exclusive arrangement."
No wonder his attitude was so strange; she had overthought it...
What testing!
What hidden traps!
He was just seeking revenge! Truly narrow-minded and vindictive!
Chun Yuejing struggled desperately. "I don't know how to do anything..."
"Huo Chanyi, your boyfriend's name is Ye Wei, right?"
Why was he asking that? Chun Yuejing looked up and saw the strange smile on Huo Chanyi's face. A shiver ran down her spine as she heard his cheerful voice say, "I was just thinking, I hope when I find him, he won't be missing any limbs or anything. You know, it would be pretty tragic for a man like that. But he should be grateful to have you; I believe you're a good woman who wouldn't abandon him, right?"
Chun Yuejing gasped in shock; he was threatening her!
"Is it okay if I just do it?" Chun Yuejing reluctantly conceded.
Seeing her so straightforward, Huo Chanyi felt a bit dissatisfied. Was that man really worth abandoning her for?
Chun Yuejing noticed his silence and thought he hadn't heard her. "Hey, I said I'm willing, just don't hurt Ye Wei!"
"What I do is my business; you aren't in a position to control me!"
Huo Chanyi turned and walked into the house.
Chun Yuejing stood there, dumbfounded. Was he angry? What could he possibly be angry about?!
The boss was in a meeting, and his personal secretary—commonly known as an assistant—Chun Yuejing, sat in her chair yawning repeatedly. The driver, glancing at her with a puzzled expression, mustered the courage to ask, “Miss Chun, are you very tired?”
Chun Yuejing didn’t respond immediately. After a moment of hesitation, she asked, “Is your boss… very energetic?”
She had intended to say "perverted," but considering that he was Huo Chanyi's man, she felt it inappropriate to speak ill of him in front of others.
She truly admired Huo Chanyi’s extraordinary stamina. She was already worn out from their escapades; he would wake her up in the middle of the night, claiming he wanted to go swimming or take a midnight hike, dragging her out to sneak away for a wild night while avoiding everyone else. Or when he was tired or frustrated, he would demand massages, late-night snacks, or lullabies. The moment she tried to slack off, he would notice immediately…
She could swear he did it on purpose!
Because whenever she refused him, he would coldly say, “Oh dear, I wonder if they’ve found Ye Wei yet…”
That devil Huo Chanyi!
The driver’s mouth hung open in disbelief, his face a mix of anger and frustration. How could the boss be involved with this woman who had no curves and barely any figure?
Heaven had truly lost its sight!
The driver’s expression was complicated, while Chun Yuejing remained oblivious to the shocking nature of her words and continued to catch up on her sleep.
