Although the narrative was calm and concise, Rao Jie still sensed Wu Rong's sadness and disappointment. He felt let down by the man he once considered a friend and by the teacher he had once respected. Thus, he left that place, perhaps to escape, wanting to completely forget it and start anew.
After hearing this, Rao Jie felt a pang in her heart. Seeing Wu Rong's fearless demeanor made her think that such a person would never be hurt, never be sad, and never be defeated. It turned out he could also be so vulnerable.
Suddenly regretting her probing, Rao Jie wished she hadn't forced him to reopen his wounds for her to see. "Wu Rong..." she murmured.
Wu Rong suddenly smiled and said, "Isn't it childish? I really did beat him up badly enough to send him to the hospital, but neither he nor the teacher pressed charges against me."
Rao Jie immediately replied, "How is that childish? It's only natural to be angry when someone steals your achievements. I may not understand it fully, but I think what you all worked so hard to create is like your child. If someone were to steal it and claim it as their own, you'd definitely feel heartbroken. And for him to betray you as a friend makes it even more unforgivable; a beating is too light a punishment. As for your teacher... while he may have blurred the lines between personal and professional matters, it's somewhat understandable. Are you still angry with him? Earlier Nina mentioned he was hospitalized..."
Wu Rong replied solemnly, "The teacher's health has never been great; hospitalization for rest is common. Besides, I don't want to see them again. I don't understand why they insist on finding me. I'm not pursuing this anymore; do they really expect me to say, 'Oh, I'm not angry anymore; I forgive you'? Impossible! I'm not that magnanimous. I just don't want to keep these things that affect my emotions in my heart."
Seeing Wu Rong's somewhat rigid facial lines, Rao Jie thought for a moment before leaning up and kissing him gently.
Wu Rong looked at her in surprise. "What are you doing? Trying to comfort me?"
Rao Jie nodded and said, "It's my fault; I won't bring it up again. But if you ever have something on your mind that makes you unhappy, just tell me. If you don't want to talk about it, just let me know you're upset, and I'll comfort you."
Rao Jie liked Wu Rong when he was spirited and confident; she didn't like seeing him filled with emotion and looking somewhat defeated.
Wu Rong should always shine brightly; that's the real him.
With Rao Jie soothing him, all of Wu Rong's gloom seemed to dissipate as if she could truly lift his spirits completely.
He lowered his head and rubbed his nose against Rao Jie's soft cheek. "Just one kiss—does that count as comfort? Do you look down on me?"
Rao Jie swallowed hard, mustering her courage as she boldly grabbed Wu Rong's shoulders and climbed onto his waist.
Wu Rong stared at Rao Jie in shock. Due to her sudden movement, her bathrobe had come undone slightly, revealing a large expanse of fair skin with faint traces from yesterday still visible.
Wu Rong's throat bobbed as he hoarsely asked, "What are you doing?" His hands began to wander uncharacteristically over her legs that were kneeling beside his waist, moving from her knees up toward the inner thigh beneath her bathrobe.
Rao Jie couldn't help but shiver slightly. "You... weren't you very eager... very eager for this yesterday?"
Wu Rong's beautiful eyes gradually became hazy as he fixed his gaze on Rao Jie. "Yes, very eager."
Feeling a bit shy under his intense stare, Rao Jie lowered her head and slowly began to untie the belt of Wu Rong's bathrobe. "Just... just this once."
"......Alright."
"Close your eyes, turn off the lights."
"What’s the point of that, Sister? I..."
"Shut up!"
