Deng Ling felt certain that she must have forgotten to burn incense, or else she wouldn't have encountered a madman on her way out. 0

The madman was a head taller than her, with a handsome, fair face, though his hair was disheveled and his clothes were in disarray. 0

As soon as he saw her, he abruptly grabbed her sleeve and said urgently, “Sha Xiu, you have to take me home!” 0

Deng Ling struggled to shake him off, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get rid of him. Frustrated and angry, she shouted, “Who are you?!” 0

“How dare you pretend not to know Young Master?” The madman grew even more agitated, his cheeks flushed and his eyes wide with intensity. “Have you forgotten who took you in? If it weren't for me, you would have frozen to death long ago!” 0

Deng Ling was convinced that this man was indeed insane and decided to ignore him. She glared at him angrily and warned, “Let go of me, or I’ll call the police!” 0

“I won’t let go!” The madman looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings in a panic. “Why did you bring me here? Are you trying to abandon me and seize my inheritance? I’m telling you, you won’t succeed!” 0

At his words, the onlookers seemed to understand the situation immediately and began to voice their support for him. “Miss, you can’t treat him like this; after all, you’re family.” 0

Some even sternly warned her, “If you dare to leave him here, I’ll call the police right away!” 0

Deng Ling was left speechless, internally lamenting, “How did I end up in such a terrible situation?!” 0

More and more people gathered around, most of them criticizing her. Knowing that staying there would only lead to her being vilified by the crowd, she reluctantly pulled the madman away from the throng. Yet he continued to tug at her sleeve and muttered softly, “I’m hungry.” 0

Deng Ling didn’t want to pay him any attention, but the indignant "champions of justice" cast stern looks in her direction. With no other choice, she forced a faint smile and said, “Alright, I’ll take you to get something to eat.” 0

Deng Ling hurriedly placed her order at a noodle shop, feeling the weight of the server's strange gaze upon her. After finishing her meal, the madman wiped his mouth and said, "Sha Xiu, you've had your fun; it's time to take the Young Master back home. If we miss this year's imperial examination, you'll be in big trouble!" 0

Deng Ling gritted her teeth in anger and said through clenched jaws, "Try calling me Sha Xiu one more time!" She thought to herself that this person must be seriously ill; perhaps she should send him to a welfare institution. "What’s your name? Where do you live?" She intended to do a good deed and return him home. 0

"Young Master Liu Tingke, I live in Yangzhou," Liu Tingke replied, looking surprised. "Sha Xiu, have you really lost it?" 0

Deng Ling calculated in her mind: Yangzhou, train tickets aren't too expensive... 0

"What family do you have? What's your phone number? I can help you contact them!" She felt she had been more than generous, but she hoped this guy wouldn't push his luck. Liu Tingke looked confused. "Phone number?" 0

"Your family's contact information!" 0

Now Liu Tingke understood: "Oh, you want someone to send a message to the the Liu Family in Yangzhou. Once there, someone will naturally inform them." 0

Deng Ling rolled her eyes in frustration, thinking: This person is truly insane! They were clearly from different worlds, and communication was proving to be a challenge; she couldn't be blamed for that! 0

Liu Tingke clung desperately to his only "lifeline," looking pitiful as he said, "Sha Xiu, you can't leave me behind!" 0

On the bustling street, the two of them tugged at each other. Liu Tingke stood close to Deng Ling, staring in shock at the long stream of traffic. He swallowed nervously and cautiously asked, "Sha Xiu, where exactly are you planning to take the Young Master…?" 0

Deng Ling felt a splitting headache coming on and thought about who was truly unhinged here; if she continued talking to him, she might just lose her mind! 0

The sudden honking of a car startled Liu Tingke. To ease the tension from Sha Xiu's displeased expression, he desperately sought a new topic: "What’s that box with a person inside?" 0

Deng Ling hung her head wearily, responding lazily, "A car." 0

"What is a car?" Liu Tingke asked, still looking puzzled. 0

Deng Ling finally couldn't hold back her frustration. She suddenly lifted her head and raised her voice, saying, "What era do you think you're from, you idiot? Are you doing this on purpose? You're pretending, aren't you? Don't think I’ll fall for it!" 0

Liu Tingke hurriedly wiped the spit that Deng Ling had splattered on his face and innocently defended himself, "The Zhengde Era, during the Ming Dynasty." 0

Deng Ling was taken aback, and a doubt crept into her mind: Was she going crazy, or had she misheard him? 0
