At the Peach Blossom Farm, where Ruan Fuxi and her companions were enjoying their time, the atmosphere was tense. In the car, Ruan Huai noticed that his assistant was trying to comfort him as he frowned deeply.
"President Ruan, Miss Ruan might just want a change of scenery at the farm. You shouldn't worry too much," the assistant said.
Ruan Huai tugged at his tie, his frown deepening. Ruan Fuxi had always been spoiled and domineering. Now that she had learned she was not the biological daughter of the Ruan family and had brought Ruan Anmu along, he couldn't help but worry about what she might do next.
No one could afford to make a mistake.
With this thought, Ruan Huai's anxiety intensified, and he coldly commanded, "Drive faster."
The assistant, sensing the gravity of the situation, fell silent and pressed down on the accelerator. He couldn't help but feel a sense of regret; Miss Ruan had truly squandered a good hand of cards. He had heard that she was quite obedient and adorable as a child, so how had her temperament worsened as she grew up? Now that the biological daughter of the Ruan family had returned, it was uncertain whether she would remain in the family or be cast out.
Meanwhile, Ruan Fuxi and Ruan Anmu were nearing the Peach Blossom Farm without any issues along the way. However, Yu Qi was unwilling to miss out on this opportunity. Her eyes darted around until they landed on a nearby thicket—a half-spherical mound of dried grass and pine needles.
Seeing this, Yu Qi's eyes lit up. She knew exactly what it was.
"Xiao Xi, Anmu, look over there! It seems like there are mushrooms! The mushrooms on the mountain are delicious; let's go pick some!" she exclaimed.
Ruan Fuxi turned to glare at her. "No."
Yu Qi felt as if her intentions had been seen through and quickly averted her gaze, but she remained undeterred.
She didn't want to miss this good opportunity, so she pretended to be innocent and ran up to the haystack. After hesitating for just a moment, she picked up a stick and began to poke through the hay.
In her heart, Yu Qi reassured herself that she had enough snake-repellent powder on her, and nothing would happen.
As the dry grass was pushed aside, a nest of white eggs was revealed underneath.
Yu Qi's eyes lit up with excitement; her guess had been right. She picked up a few eggs and approached Ruan Fu Xi, ready to hand them over.
"Xiao Xi, are these wild chicken eggs?"
Ruan Fu Xi recognized them with just one glance. The white eggs in front of her were not ordinary; they belonged to the highly venomous King Cobra.
This type of snake had a strong sense of revenge. If anyone got the scent of its eggs on them, they would be attacked.
Ruan Fu Xi's gaze turned cold as she looked at Yu Qi. She then took a few steps back while protecting Ruan An Mu and said sternly, "Those are snake eggs! Put them back immediately! Yu Qi, if you want to die, don’t drag us down with you."
It seemed that Yu Qi really despised her master; she was relentless in trying to harm her.
Feigning surprise, Yu Qi replied, "Xiao Xi, are you sure you’re not mistaken?"
But Ruan Fu Xi had already taken Ruan An Mu away.
Seeing this, Yu Qi was left speechless for a moment. Ruan Fu Xi really didn’t take her own safety seriously.
However, she quickly forgot about that as a large black-brown snake, about two or three meters long, slithered toward her.
The snake had a triangular head and dark brown patterns on its back, hissing as it flicked its tongue rapidly in pursuit.
It was indeed the venomous King Cobra.
Without anyone needing to remind her, Yu Qi knew it was because she had taken the King Cobra's eggs that it was chasing her.
Even though she carried snake-repellent powder on her, fear gripped her heart and she instinctively wanted to throw away the snake eggs in her hands.
But then she caught sight of Ruan Fu Xi in the distance and immediately feigned panic, tossing the snake eggs away.
