Bai Yiming slowly approached, looking at Sun Man lying on the ground, then glancing at Yan Liang, Wang Long, and Li Changjiang not far away. He shook his head and sighed, "They are all exceptionally intelligent individuals, yet they have all ended up like this. Lin Kong, do you know why?" 0

Lin Kong followed him and shook his head. 0

"Because their desires could never be satisfied!" Bai Yiming sighed again and slowly continued, "Human desire is like digging a well for water. People always have desires, and they will dig wells! Some people satisfy their desires; they obtain the water from the well and can survive! But some people's desires are never fulfilled; they can only keep digging, endlessly digging, until the well they dig becomes an unfathomable grave that buries them deep underground, never to see the light of day again!" 0

Bai Yiming's gaze shifted as he turned to Lin Kong and said, "Lin Kong, I have one more thing to tell you; you must remember it well!" 0

Lin Kong nodded in confusion and asked, "What is it?" 0

Bai Yiming looked up at the vast sky and the sun hidden behind the clouds. "Human life is always limited, while human desire is infinite. Therefore, you must learn to let go. Otherwise, once greed blinds your eyes, you will no longer be able to see all this beauty." 0

Lin Kong listened, somewhat understanding but still nodded. 0

Bai Yiming nodded back and said, "Now everything has come to an end. The master Ge from the original sect is willing to recommend me as the governor of Mou Shui. I will certainly serve the people well and do more for their welfare to comfort the masses." 0

Bai Yiming's gaze was distant as the clouds in the distance slowly began to disperse, revealing the first rays of sunlight—warm and inviting. 0

Three months later in Mou Shui. 0

Outside a small teahouse in Mou Shui City, several people gathered around a table speaking softly. One person with a sorrowful expression said, "I never expected such a good Lord Bai would be falsely accused of heinous crimes. What wrong has he done? Is it such a great sin to distribute money that should not have gone to the Yamen to the poor?" 0

Another person, filled with righteous indignation, replied angrily, "The officials in the state government learned that Lord Bai distributed money to the common people instead of offering it to them; they resent him for it. That’s why they want him dead. It is said that within three days, Lord Bai will be executed." 0

The man earlier said, "What’s most infuriating is that it was none other than a relative who betrayed Lord Bai. That beastly scoundrel! If I ever run into him, I swear I’ll snap his neck." 0

The others echoed his outrage, their anger palpable. Not far from them, in the corner of the tea house, a figure cloaked in black tossed a silver ingot onto the table and hurriedly left. 0

As dusk fell, the man in black raced through a secluded valley, gazing up at the crescent moon slowly appearing in the sky. He removed his cloak, revealing his features—small eyes and a large nose; it was Lin Kong. 0

Lin Kong lamented, "Uncle Bai, you can’t blame me! Who told you to be so stubborn, giving all your money to the poor and leaving nothing for me? Hmph, since you’re so heartless, don’t blame me for being ruthless." 0

As he spoke, Lin Kong's eyes suddenly brightened. He pulled out a Purple Wood Box from his pocket and opened it to reveal a piece of white jade with a faint outline of a Pink Dragon on its back. 0

Lin Kong chuckled, "Fortunately, I stole this before the raid. Although it’s not the legendary ancient jade, it should still be worth quite a bit. At least I won’t suffer any losses now." 0

He laughed heartily, raising the white jade above his head to catch the light of the rising moon for a closer look. However, he noticed a crack slowly widening on its surface. Panic surged within him as he brought it closer to his eyes. Suddenly, there was a crisp sound—“ding!”—and the Pink Dragon mark on the back shattered. A pink liquid resembling rouge dripped into Lin Kong's open mouth as he gasped in shock. It carried a hint of grassy fragrance. By the time he realized what had happened, he had already swallowed it. The scent of grass filled the air around him, and despair washed over his face as he shouted, "Hundred Flowers... withering..." 0

Lin Kong felt two streams of blood tears erupting from his eyes as his heart turned cold. In that moment, he recalled Bai Yiming's words echoing in his ears. 0

As life slipped away from him, he suddenly hurled the white jade into the air. The jade dragon shimmered beautifully in the soft moonlight but shattered instantly upon hitting the stones of the valley floor, breaking into countless pieces that merged with the earth—never to return again. 0
