Recently, Getsu seems to have become less frequent in visiting Bosaku Sei for some reason. She used to bother him often, but now she appears unusually quiet. Bosaku Sei begins to suspect whether it's because he has been too strict with her, or if she was previously frightened, leading to this change.
Deciding to show concern, Bosaku Sei visits Getsu's home one day. He is greeted by Getsu's father, and after exchanging a few pleasantries, Bosaku Sei inquires about Getsu's recent situation.
Getsu's father looks somewhat worried: "I don't know if it's because of the previous scare, but recently she's been unwilling to go out, her appetite has decreased, and she's becoming more and more quiet."
He continued, " Getsu really likes you. If you could go and see her, maybe her mood will improve."
Bosaku Sei was slightly stunned, feeling a mix of emotions. He thought about his past indifference towards Getsu and the frightening monster incident that had happened to her, feeling a sense of self-blame.
"Alright, I'll go see her," Bosaku Sei responded firmly to Getsu's father.
Father smiled and led him into Getsu's room. Pushing the door open, he saw Getsu sitting at the head of the bed, facing the window, as if lost in thought.
"Getsu, it's me, Bosaku Sei," he called softly.
Getsu heard the familiar voice and turned her head slowly. Although her expression relaxed somewhat, there was a hint of imperceptible wariness in her eyes.
"What are you here for?" Her tone carried a hint of coldness.
"I heard you haven't been feeling well lately, so I came to check on you," Bosaku Sei's voice was full of concern.
Getsu glanced at him silently, then turned his gaze back to the window and said, "I'm fine, you don't need to worry."
Bosaku Sei approached, sat down by her bed, and carefully observed her expression. There seemed to be something off that he couldn't quite put his finger on, but he couldn't be sure what it was.
"Getsu, if there's something weighing on your mind, feel free to speak up," Bosaku Sei attempted to say.
Getsu finally withdrew his gaze from outside the window and looked at her, saying, "Sei, I have always been very afraid. Afraid of the monsters that may appear again at any time, afraid of sudden danger."
Bosaku Sei tightly held her hand and said seriously, "I understand your fear, but you should know that I will always be protecting the village."
Just as he finished speaking, he suddenly felt that Getsu's hand was somewhat cold, different from her usual body temperature. His heart tightened, suddenly realizing that perhaps things were far more complicated than he had imagined.
Bosaku Sei felt a wave of unease, but he made an effort to maintain a calm expression, not letting Getsu notice.
"If you say you're okay, then I'll feel relieved. But if you need anything, you can find me anytime," Bosaku Sei said, trying to make his voice sound natural.
Getsu smiled slightly, but there was a hint of sadness in that smile. "Thank you, Bosaku Sei, but I want to be alone for a while. You should leave first."
Bosaku Sei stood up, feeling a bit reluctant, but he knew that forcing himself to stay at this moment might make things more complicated. "Alright, I'll go first. Take care of yourself and remember to eat."
"I will, thank you," Getsu replied, with a barely perceptible tremor in his voice.
Bosaku Sei walked out of the room, and the door closed slowly. He stood outside the door, took a deep breath, and then turned and walked away.
But at the moment he walked out of the room, a nearly imperceptible strange smile suddenly appeared on Getsu's face. The whole room fell into a dead silence.
In these quiet days, Sesshomaru is even more alert. He knows well that this apparent peace is often the calm before the storm.
He pays special attention to the vulnerable, such as the elderly, the weak, and the young, who are easy targets for demons. He fears that elusive little demons like the " nyū nai suzume " might attach themselves to people, making them easy prey. At the same time, Sesshomaru has also intensified patrols around the village, especially in dark and sparsely populated areas. Every night, when darkness falls and moonlight cannot reach, every corner is carefully inspected.
At that moment, Bosaku Sei approached. "Lord Sesshomaru, have you found any clues?"
Sesshomaru tightly gripped Tenseiga in his hand, his expressionless face calmly replied, "I haven't found any concrete clues, but I sense that there are still demons lurking nearby."
"I feel the same way," said Bosaku Sei, glancing thoughtfully at Getsu's house in the distance.
"Well then, we cannot be careless, especially considering that the recent targets of the demons have been young women in the village. We need to be more cautious," said Sesshomaru with a voice that carried a serious tone that could not be ignored.
"You're right, I will have Souta and Xiazhimaru strengthen their vigilance," said Bosaku Sei.
At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps came from a distance, followed by Rin running over, panting.
"Sesshomaru! Bosaku Sei! Oh no, Getsu suddenly disappeared!" Rin panted as she ran over.
The two of them locked eyes and immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. There was no time to waste, so they quickly followed Rin to Getsu's house.
Upon arrival, a thorough search yielded no results, and Getsu seemed to have vanished into thin air.
Just as everyone was becoming increasingly perplexed, Sesshomaru suddenly fixed his gaze on a corner where a " nyū nai suzume " had been crushed to death.
"This nyū nai suzume... So there's another one, and I missed it," Sesshomaru picked up the small bird that no longer flew, his fingertips slightly tense.
"The eggs laid by this 'nyū nai suzume' are consumed by humans, and then they control their bodies. Could it be that Getsu has been controlled by it?" Bosaku Sei's gaze became even sharper.
"This nyū nai suzume is highly likely to be related to Getsu's disappearance." Rin clenched her fists, with a worried look on her face.
"We must search separately, and we must find her no matter what, dead or alive." Sesshomaru's eyes turned cold, and the Tenseiga he held in his hand seemed to sense his determination.
Three people quickly walked out of Getsu's house, heading towards the edge of the village. The sun had already sunk below the horizon, the night was falling, and darkness gradually enveloped the surroundings.
"We should split up, it will be easier to find Getsu that way," suggested Bosaku Sei.
"Okay, Rin, go find Souta and Xiazhimaru and tell them to join the search immediately," Sesshomaru ordered.
Rin nodded and quickly turned to run towards the other side of the village. Sesshomaru and Bosaku Sei then quickened their pace, entering a dark and sparse forest, the most desolate and common area for monsters near the village.
The two exchanged a glance, then each released their demon power, transforming into two different colored lights, injecting a glimmer of light into the surrounding darkness.
At that moment, Sesshomaru suddenly sensed an extremely weak demon energy fluctuation. "There!" He pointed abruptly, indicating a small hill deep in the sparse forest.
The two of them approached the target location at an extremely fast speed, with demonic power already gathered in their palms, ready at any moment. They reached the top of a small hill, and their gaze instantly froze.
There was a figure there, surrounded by a rough grave dug by hand. The lid of the coffin had been lifted, and one of the figure's hands seemed to be grasping at the entrails, while the other hand held an arm, gnawing on it voraciously. The sound of gnawing seemed unusually eerie in the deep night, sending shivers down their spines with each bite.
The silhouette of the figure twisted in the faint light, seemingly constantly changing, making it impossible to capture its true appearance. This eerie and unsettling sight felt like a nightmare, giving a sense of descending into hell.
Upon getting closer, Sesshomaru and Bosaku Sei were astonished to discover that the person was actually Getsu.
