Chun'er was just a servant managing the grass in the garden, never expecting that delivering the flowers to the various courtyards would bring trouble upon herself. Had she known this would happen, she would not have harbored such greed.

Before Gu Qingning could respond, Kuo Ruofeng's attention shifted back to Chun'er, her tone sharp. "Sell her off!"
Upon hearing that she would be sold, Chun'er trembled all over, repeatedly bowing and pleading for mercy. "Please spare me, Old Madam! Please spare me, Second Madam! I am just a new maid who has recently entered the household. I only wanted to please the Young Masters and never expected to cause such a huge disaster. It was my fault. That day while tending to the garden, I overheard someone say that the Second Young Master likes Silver Willows. Since the Silver Willows were blooming, I foolishly picked a few branches and brought them to his room. But I never imagined that such a small gesture would trigger his asthma."
"Who did you hear say that?" Gu Qingning asked again.
Chun'er glanced at Gu Qingning, her eyes filled with confusion. "That day, I only heard voices from outside the garden and did not see anyone."
When she heard those words, she thought it was just the servants discussing among themselves to win favor with the Young Masters. So, wanting to make an impression after entering the household, she believed what she had heard and took the Silver Willows to the Second Young Master's room.
However, she had seen a blurry figure that looked very much like her. Chun'er suddenly pointed at someone standing aside.
Everyone followed her finger and looked over; Bai Zhi stood there in a daze, unsure of what to do.
As soon as Miss saw everyone’s gaze fall upon her, Bai Zhi quickly knelt down in fear and explained, "I have never been to the garden."
"Gu Qingning, Bai Zhi is your personal maid; are you still trying to argue?" Kuo Ruofeng shouted angrily.
It seemed that this accusation was going to be pinned on her without question.
"Who can vouch for you?" Gu Yanran smiled mockingly.
"The young lady has been suffering from high fever and has never left the courtyard," Bai Zhi said tearfully. "Green Smoke can testify for me."
Green Smoke hurriedly knelt down. "The two of us have always stayed in the young lady's courtyard serving her."
"You three servants conspired against my son!" Kuo Ruofeng had lost all patience for idle chatter; she just wanted to vent her anger.
How could they judge based on just a shadow? It was impossible to drag her down with such flimsy evidence.
"I also have this." Chun'er pulled out a hairpin from within her clothing and presented it before everyone.
Kuo Ruofeng stepped forward and took the hairpin from Chun'er's hand. A flicker of surprise crossed her face. "Gu Qingning, this jade vine hairpin belongs to you, doesn't it?"
Gu Qingning had often been coaxed by Gu Yanran into buying various ornaments; whether this jade vine hairpin truly belonged to her was uncertain—she had never kept track of how many items she actually owned.
Old Lady Gu glanced over, her expression serious. "Young lady, since this hairpin belongs to you, you must think carefully about how it ended up in someone else's hands."
"This hairpin was found by a servant near the corridor. I was fortunate enough to see Bai Zhi take it out and show it off, claiming that the young lady praised her for doing a good job and rewarded her," Chun'er said, trembling all over, her voice barely above a whisper.
