After we get married, I will tell you everything, Your Highness. For now, I need you to help me with two things. First, find a group of people to spread the word. Second, help me find a physician who is loyal only to you.
Gu Qingning set forth all her demands after finishing her tea.
"Sure," Pei Zhiqing replied coldly after taking a sip of his tea.
"Alright, now it's my turn to make a request." Pei Zhiqing fixed his gaze on the small dimple on Gu Qingning's face and said casually, "I haven't thought of my conditions yet. We'll discuss them once you've handled everything."
"Okay." Gu Qingning pursed her lips tightly and looked at Pei Zhiqing across the table.
With a snap of his fingers, Feng Ren walked in respectfully and bowed to Pei Zhiqing. "Master."
"After returning, send Jinsha and Yingsha to the Ninth Princess." Pei Zhiqing's tone was icy and left no room for refusal.
"I have maids; I don't need them." Gu Qingning was not used to unfamiliar faces; she had grown accustomed to Bai Zhi and Lu Yan.
"This is an order."
The simple four words made Gu Qingning feel that any objections would be futile.
"Fine!"
Seeing how insistent he was, she had no choice but to accept. She had always been open to free and useful things.
When Gu Qingning left the teahouse, she noticed two more people following her—a pair named Jinsha and Yingsha who trailed behind the carriage back to the Zhongyuan Marquis's residence.
Bai Zhi and Lu Yan exchanged glances filled with confusion.
"Miss brought back two strangers from her outing, and they look quite formidable. She wouldn’t be abandoning us, would she?"
Just as they stepped down from the carriage, they ran into Kuo Ruofeng sending a doctor out of the house.
Seeing Gu Qingning at the door, Kuo Ruofeng couldn't help but express her displeasure. "With the wedding approaching, why is a young lady like you running around instead of staying home to prepare your wedding attire? It's scandalous!"
Gu Qingning frowned in disdain. "I just had some business to attend to. What do you mean by that? Am I not allowed to go out until I'm married? What kind of logic is that?"
Kuo Ruofeng was equally unyielding. "If it weren't for the fact that I'm your elder and your mother has passed away, leaving no one to teach you the rules for unmarried women, I wouldn't even bother lecturing you!"
Gu Qingning retorted sharply, "Even though my mother is gone, I still have my father. If I've done something wrong, it's up to him to correct me—not you!"
Seeing Kuo Ruofeng's annoying and gossipy demeanor made Gu Qingning want to argue with her even more just to silence her!
"Don't blame me for not warning you; don't bring just anyone into the Zhongyuan Marquis's residence!"
Every time, Kuo Ruofeng found herself unable to outsmart Gu Qingning. At this moment, seeing the golden sand and silver sand behind Gu Qingning felt like she had finally grasped a weakness. Her eyes lit up.
Gu Qingning let out a cold laugh. "These are my people; you needn't worry about them. Please step aside!"
She wanted to say more, but instead, Gu Qingning lifted her foot, straightened her back, and walked towards the courtyard with her four maidservants.
Kuo Ruofeng, infuriated and gritting her teeth, watched as Gu Qingning arrogantly brushed past her, nearly biting her tongue in frustration.
"Gu Qingning, don't go too far!" Kuo Ruofeng's face flushed red with anger.
"And you shouldn't go too far either!" Gu Qingning stopped, turned around to face Kuo Ruofeng, and said, "Although I have not yet married the Ninth Prince, I am currently the Ninth Princess designated by His Majesty. By saying such things about me, aren't you slapping His Majesty in the face?"
Kuo Ruofeng was so enraged by Gu Qingning's words that she nearly fainted. "You little wretch!"
"How can you insult someone?" Gu Qingning feigned innocence. "I am a member of the Zhongyuan Marquisate. By insulting me, you're insulting the entire Marquisate. And just a reminder: I am the Ninth Princess bestowed by His Majesty. You are insulting His Majesty."
"You—" Kuo Ruofeng was left speechless, never expecting Gu Qingning to be so difficult to deal with.
"Take care!" Gu Qingning glanced at Kuo Ruofeng before turning to leave.
Kuo Ruofeng trembled with rage. "Gu Qingning, just wait!"
"Madam! Madam! It's bad!" A maidservant rushed towards Kuo Ruofeng in a panic, shouting loudly as she ran.
"What happened?"
Seeing the maidservant from Gu Yuxuan's courtyard calling out loudly, Kuo Ruofeng's expression changed drastically as she hurried forward.
