Zhou remained silent, unable to speak or dare to voice his thoughts. He stood in the Imperial Study, gazing out at the palace grounds for a long time until Emperor Jing coughed a few times.
"Your Majesty, the wind has picked up. Please take care of your health!" Zhou said with concern.
The Emperor did not respond, bending slightly as he asked, "Have we received any news from the people we sent out?"
Prince Jing and his wife had split their forces; Prince Jing was heading to the border while Princess Jing prepared to return to the capital.
After a moment of contemplation, Emperor Jing inquired, "Has the poison in Jing'er been resolved?"
"It was mentioned in the letter," Zhou replied.
Finally, the Emperor felt a weight lift from his heart. "It seems that the poison in Jing'er should have been cured; it was indeed time for it to be resolved."
He let out a quiet sigh.
Prime Minister Song held too much power, and Consort An was favored in the harem with her numerous accolades. She had also given birth to Pei Zhirui, a son, which made her even more unrestrained.
With their legitimate eldest son having passed away, Pei Zhirui, as the second prince, had taken precedence. He was originally the best candidate for Crown Prince. However, due to Emperor Jing's favoritism towards Consort Chen and jealousy from Consort An and others, they secretly poisoned him.

Prime Minister Song snorted, "If you want to take the Gu family army, I won't stop you, but the Song family daughter must be the one to marry first."
The thought of Gu Changqing's daughter becoming the Empress made Prime Minister Song wish he could slap Concubine An twice right then and there.
"Don't worry, Father. Rui'er said that even if that blind man marries in, there will never be a day when he becomes the husband of the Empress," Concubine An replied bitterly.
They had no intention of allowing Gu Wan Ning to survive until that time. Gu Wan Ning was merely a pawn in their hands to control the Gu family army.
"I doubt you would dare," Prime Minister Song said, calming his anger as he took a seat.
In order for Pei Zhirui to ascend to the throne legitimately, they held more than just the life of the legitimate eldest son in their hands. Even the poison within Pei Zhiqing had been meticulously orchestrated by them.
He never expected that today, his obedient daughter from before would dare to deceive him and secretly request a marriage from the Emperor.

Upon returning home, Gu Yan immediately summoned Physician Zhang.
Physician Zhang carefully examined the pill and bowed, saying, "This pill indeed aids in conception."
Gu Yan was surprised that Gu Wan Ning casually produced a pill with such great efficacy.
"Does it pose any harm to this Imperial Concubine's body?" Gu Yan asked Physician Zhang.

After expressing her gratitude to Doctor Zhang, Gu Yan instructed Xiang Lan to escort him out of the residence.

Gu Qing Ning felt anxious but could do nothing about it. Her master was someone she had to indulge; what else could she do? Ever since her rebirth, all the storylines had completely deviated from what she once knew.
They had to split their forces—one heading to the border front and the other returning to the capital—if they wanted to cut off all of Pei Zhi Rui's escape routes.
Thinking of this, Gu Qing Ning couldn't help but worry for Gu Wan Ning and quickened her pace toward the city.
