Wu Rong put down his phone and gently pulled the sleeping Rao Jie into his arms, holding her tightly. The treasure he had found with such difficulty was too important, and there were too many uncertainties in her heart. Wu Rong was just an ordinary person; he felt fear too. He was afraid that Rao Jie would find being with him exhausting and leave him because of her doubts.
Thinking of this made Wu Rong tighten his embrace around Rao Jie. She stirred awake from the pressure, groggily meeting his intense gaze. She leaned in and kissed him softly, murmuring, “No more, I’m so tired. Let me rest.”
Wu Rong felt a wave of relief wash over him. It was indeed the most comfortable feeling, so no matter what happened or how many doubts she had, since they had already begun this journey together, he would never let her go.
While Wu Rong was lost in pleasant thoughts, he didn’t expect that things would take a different turn once they returned home. To his surprise, Rao Jie refused to share a bed with him.
After returning, Wu Rong was blissfully thinking about moving Rao Jie completely into his room to continue the beautiful nights they had at the Romantic Country hotel. However, as soon as they got back, Rao Jie naturally reverted to her previous state.
Although they were still a couple, they ended up sleeping in separate rooms. Wu Rong firmly opposed this arrangement and blocked the doorway to prevent Rao Jie from entering her room.
Rao Jie looked at him helplessly and said, “Stop messing around.”
“Who’s messing around? If I’ve done something wrong or if you’re unhappy about something, just tell me! Why do we have to sleep apart? Didn’t we have a great time at Romantic Country?” Wu Rong said in confusion.
Rao Jie didn’t know how to explain herself; she just felt that after returning home, they should sleep separately. Otherwise, everything would feel too rushed. They were just dating; they weren’t married. How could they sleep together every night?
“Staying in a hotel while traveling is different from living at home. Even though we’re living together now, it’s still a shared space, not cohabitation! You need to take things step by step!”
Wu Rong couldn’t understand this logic and felt that since they had been able to share a bed before, it should be even more acceptable now. “How is this not cohabitation? It feels like our relationship is regressing! You’re being stubborn about these strange things; I don’t agree with it.”
During their days at Romantic Country, Rao Jie found it hard to articulate her feelings. Even now, thinking back made her blush and her heart race; she couldn’t understand how she had let herself go so easily. Now that they were back home, everything felt off.
Living together meant cooking for him and sharing a bed—it truly felt like stepping into the routine of an old married couple when they had only been dating for a few days! Wu Rong’s insistence left her feeling anxious inside, but she couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong; perhaps she really was just caught up in strange concerns.
"No way... Absolutely not! If you keep this up... I'm moving out!"
Wu Rong dreaded hearing Rao Jie say this; it was something he could never agree to. So when Rao Jie mentioned it, he could only sulk in resignation.
"This is just... infuriating! I’ve already bought everything and placed it on the bedside table. Why do you have to be so stubborn about this?"
Rao Jie was taken aback, and it took a moment for him to grasp what Wu Rong was talking about. It turned out that he had just gone out specifically to buy that...
In a fit of embarrassment and anger, Rao Jie kicked Wu Rong's knee. "You jerk! How could you think of that? Just use it yourself, you big pervert!"
Wu Rong was left feeling frustrated, ultimately watching helplessly as the door closed right in front of him.
An idea suddenly struck Wu Rong; he might as well have Wu Xin come back. That way, Wu Xin could sleep in his own room, and Rao Jie would feel awkward sleeping in his parents' room, which would force him to share a room with Wu Rong instead.
