Meimei crawled out from under the table, her face flushed and her cheeks puffed up. She returned to her seat, lowered her head toward her coffee cup, and with a playful pout, took a big sip.
She wiped her mouth and complained, "Well, I'm so busy, and you're flirting with someone else."
The senior said, "I wasn't! She just wouldn't leave..."
In truth, Meimei didn't really care. She stirred her coffee with a small spoon, pushed it toward him, and cheerfully said, "Alright, this cup is for you."
The senior was reluctant to drink his own liquid. After some playful banter with Meimei, he swapped the cup with A Wu's and said, "Better give it to A Wu."
Meimei pretended to be angry and hit him lightly before swapping A Wu's cup with A Mei's, laughing as she said, "Now it's for Senior Sister."
The senior was even more hesitant. The two of them kept passing the cup back and forth until A Wu and A Mei returned, asking, "What's so funny?"
The senior quickly replied, "Nothing!" as he innocently took back the cup of coffee. Seeing his troubled expression made Meimei secretly laugh. She moved her coffee over to him and took his cup instead, saying, "Alright! I'm trading with you!" The senior was truly grateful.
Meimei added some sugar to her coffee, took a sip, then gazed affectionately at the senior before taking another sip. Watching her slowly drink his liquid warmed his heart, and he secretly held her hand for a moment. A Wu and A Mei were completely unaware of what had transpired; they were still chatting away. Eventually, they decided to leave, with A Wu rushing to pay the bill.
As they were about to exit the door, the receptionist professionally said, "Thank you for visiting!" The lady's maid from earlier hurried over and bowed, saying, "Welcome back!" The senior noticed something in her eyes and slowed his pace. The lady's maid caught up and discreetly slipped a small item into his hand. He recognized it as a note and tucked it into his pocket while subtly squeezing her hand in acknowledgment.
After leaving the restaurant, the senior walked A Mei back to her apartment while A Wu accompanied Meimei back to the dormitory. When A Wu returned from the dormitory later on, he found A Mei's door open; she was inside with two male classmates but did not see the senior.
Earlier when the senior had walked A Mei back, she had expected him to be more affectionate; instead, he only gave her a goodnight kiss before leaving, which left her feeling somewhat disappointed.
Unbeknownst to her, the senior had secretly read the note on the way; the girl had asked him to meet her after work near the restaurant's arcade. Thus, he hurried off to meet her.
A Mei felt tired and was about to take a shower and go to bed when someone knocked on her door. Upon opening it, she found two male classmates standing there.
These two boys had been interested in A Mei since their freshman year but had faced rejection for an entire year. In the end, A Mei ended up being pursued by boys from other departments instead. Feeling somewhat resentful as graduation approached, they thought it was time to settle the score; even if they couldn't win A Mei over, they could at least take advantage of the situation. So they agreed to bring some rosé and apple cider for a private farewell party.
A Mei knew that both of them liked her but had no interest in them at all. However, feeling awkward about rejecting them now that everyone was parting ways emotionally, she invited them into her room. They all sat on the floor together as they poured drinks.
For safety's sake, A Mei deliberately left the door ajar. Although the rosé mixed with apple cider was sweet and fragrant, it packed quite a punch. A Mei remained cautious as she sipped lightly from her glass.
