The host's passionate voice echoed in the auction hall, and everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on the stage.
"One hundred million twice!"
The brief pause felt like time had stretched, and the air seemed to thicken.
"Sold!"
As those two words were shouted, the auction hall fell silent for a moment, followed by a wave of gasps and murmurs.
"It seems our mysterious guest is quite fond of his lady," the host remarked enviously.
Chi Mu Jiu listened in shock to the host's words. What do you mean 'lady'? When did I become a lady? Her cheeks flushed instantly, and her heart raced in confusion.
In contrast, Du Heng Yan showed no signs of anger; instead, a barely perceptible smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. After sitting for so long, he finally heard something that pleased him.
"Come on, my lady. Let's take a break."
He stood up and naturally wrapped his arm around her slender waist, his movements smooth and intimate.
Chi Mu Jiu wanted to break free but found herself held even tighter. The bodyguards who had led them earlier were already waiting at the door. Trained to perfection, they stood at attention and bowed respectfully as Du Heng Yan and Chi Mu Jiu emerged.
With Du Heng Yan holding Chi Mu Jiu close, they walked forward confidently under the curious and envious gazes of the crowd. Chi Mu Jiu felt her face burning; she wished she could find a crack in the ground to hide in.
"Let go of me; it’s embarrassing if people see us like this."
Du Heng Yan leaned closer to her ear and whispered softly, "What are you afraid of? Let them think whatever they want."
Thus, surrounded by bodyguards, they left the auction hall. Throughout the journey, Du Heng Yan appeared in high spirits, as if everything that had just happened was well within his control.
It was only in the resting room that Chi Mu Jiu finally managed to escape from Du Heng Yan's embrace.
Du Hengyan smiled beside her, trying to coax her.
"Why are you so concerned about a joke?"
Chi Mu Jiu shot him a glance. "Can this really be considered a joke? It's caused quite the misunderstanding."
Du Hengyan sat next to her, gently taking her hand.
"Someone once said they wanted to marry me, and now they can't stand to hear a single word. What am I supposed to do about that?"
Chi Mu Jiu was about to retort when there was a knock at the door.
It was Ye Jue, followed by two young ladies.
When Ye Jue saw Du Hengyan at the door, his expression immediately turned tense.
"Old—"
Ye Jue was about to speak when Du Hengyan shot him a sharp look that silenced him.
"Who is it?" Du Hengyan asked.
"I'm here to deliver the ring," Ye Jue replied as he stepped aside for the two ladies to enter.
The two young ladies carefully carried a box containing a pink diamond ring into the room.
Du Hengyan nodded slightly, signaling for them to set it down.
"Open it and see if it's to your liking."
Chi Mu Jiu slowly opened the gift box, revealing a pink diamond ring nestled inside. The dazzling brilliance instantly captured her attention.
The flawless pink diamond, perfectly cut, sparkled under the light, exuding an enchanting glow as if it contained endless romance and affection.
"You've spent too much, Du Hengyan. From now on, I'll support you," Chi Mu Jiu said, unable to take her eyes off the ring, her expression filled with delight.
"You said it, so don't go back on your word," Du Hengyan said with a smirk.
"Whoever goes back on their word is a little puppy!" Chi Mu Jiu replied boldly. At that moment, all her attention was focused on the pink diamond in her hand, completely oblivious to the affectionate smile on Du Hengyan's face.
She gently took the ring out of the gift box and held it in her palm, examining it closely as a smile crept onto her lips. The brilliance of the diamond reflected on her face, making her look even more stunning.
She gazed at the pink diamond, unable to tear her eyes away. He looked at her, equally entranced.
