She struggled to calm her emotions.
"Just do what you want to do, and leave the rest to me."
Du Heng's gaze lightly fell on the contract in her hand, his eyes filled with determination.
"Are you not going with me?"
"You can go by yourself."
Chi Mu Jiu nodded again, taking the contract as she got out of the car.
As she stepped through the gates of the Chi family home, the servants in the courtyard greeted her one after another.
This time, Chi Mu Jiu did not respond.
In the spacious living room, Chi Feng sat imposingly on the sofa, quietly waiting for Chi Mu Jiu's arrival.
The servants brought in freshly brewed tea and placed it gently on the solid wood coffee table before discreetly withdrawing.
Chi Mu Jiu expressionlessly took a seat directly across from him.
"Speak, what is it?"
Chi Feng asked.
"Yesterday at the auction for the luxury yacht held by the Ye and Li families, I assume you are aware of the final item?"
Chi Mu Jiu got straight to the point without any hesitation.
"Yes, Qi Yun called me, but unfortunately, that collaboration agreement was still not secured."
Chi Feng sighed deeply, his words laced with reluctance. His eyes revealed regret and disappointment, as if he had missed a significant opportunity.
"Indeed, with a price in the hundreds of millions, it was only at the last moment that someone raised their bid. In this entire market, aside from the Ye family who could just take it without a second thought, which other family would dare to spend so much money?"
Chi Mu Jiu spoke slowly, her tone tinged with a hint of sarcasm.
As she spoke, she casually tossed the contract onto the coffee table, producing a soft sound. The words on the cover of the contract were particularly eye-catching, as if they were whispering endless secrets to Chi Feng.
Just as Chi Feng was about to ask Chi Mu Jiu if she had attended the auction as well, his attention was firmly captured by the contract before him.
"You? How do you have this contract?!"
Chi Feng stared at Chi Mu Jiu in shock, disbelief evident in his eyes. His gaze flickered with surprise and confusion, but more than anything, it was filled with excitement and exhilaration.
"My dear, I have something you've always wanted, and it's right in front of you. As for how you plan to take it from me, that depends entirely on your approach."
Chi Mu Jiu took a sip of tea, the fragrance filling her mouth, making her feel incredibly awake and calm. She observed her father's reaction, feeling a surge of confidence within her.
"You signed the contract? It was you?!"
Chi Feng had seen it all in the business world over the years, yet looking at the daughter he had raised for over twenty years now felt strangely unfamiliar. He never imagined that one day his daughter would sit across from him, negotiating terms and discussing business.
"My dear, if you want the Chi family to establish a stronger foothold in the market, there are more paths than just marrying off your daughter into a business alliance."
Chi Mu Jiu pushed the contract closer to him, hoping he would understand that she had her own ideas and capabilities to bring a better future for the Chi family.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Chi Feng eagerly picked up the contract to examine it. The more he read, the more excited he became. His hands trembled slightly as if he were holding a priceless treasure.
"This is wonderful! With this contract, the Chi family can collaborate with the Ye Group. We’ve finally turned a corner!"
His voice was filled with joy and excitement. Chi Mu Jiu quietly watched her father. She knew that in this contest, she had emerged victorious.
Inside the car, waiting for Du Heng Yan, she rhythmically tapped her fingers on the seat. Her phone on the table vibrated. The caller ID displayed an international number. She frowned slightly.
Once the call connected, an urgent voice came through:
"Boss, something has happened with Seventh Master."
Du Heng Yan's expression instantly hardened, and his fingers ceased their movement.
