"Since I'm here, Miss Chi, aren't you going to invite me for a cup of tea?" His words were playful, laced with a hint of expectation.
Is he really going to push his luck like this? He wants everything without any consequences, and yet he still thinks he can linger here for tea?
Chi Mu Jiu wanted to refuse him. She knew that even if she did, Pei Si wouldn’t leave her house anytime soon. She cursed him under her breath, slipped on her slippers, and brushed past him.
In the living room, Pei Si sat on the sofa, leisurely savoring his tea. Chi Mu Jiu took a seat across from him, her expression indifferent as she regarded this uninvited man, uncertain of what he might do next that would be unacceptable to her.
Noticing that his cup was nearly empty, Chi Mu Jiu spoke with a hint of impatience, "Mr. Pei, you've had your tea. Isn't it time for you to leave?"
She hoped he would take the hint and depart quickly.
"I still have matters to discuss with Miss Chi," Pei Si replied, twirling the teacup in his hand with a broad smile.
"Then please, go ahead!" Chi Mu Jiu thought to herself while saying aloud, "Mr. Pei, please speak."
"For our transaction to proceed smoothly..."
Wait, you’re not planning to stay until tomorrow, are you?! Chi Mu Jiu interrupted him sharply as she sensed something was off in his tone.
Pei Si merely smiled without responding.
Seeing his expression, Chi Mu Jiu felt as if the sky had fallen in. "Pei Si, Mr. Pei, don’t you think you’re being rather presumptuous?"
She could no longer sit still; her patience had completely worn thin.
"I don't think so. What do you think, Miss Chi?"
Pei Si wore a nonchalant expression, his sharply defined features carrying a hint of provocation. A half-visible fox tattoo adorned his wrist, adding to his striking appearance.
"Then perhaps we should call the police?"
As soon as Chi Mu Jiu thought of this, she pulled out her phone. However, Pei Si was quick; with a swift motion, he snatched the phone from her hand.
"Miss Chi, there's no need to make such a fuss."
He placed her phone down on the table.
"I've already agreed to make a deal with you. What does this mean?"
Chi Mu Jiu felt her temper rising. This guy, Pei Si, had a face that could charm anyone but lacked any likable personality.
"Please calm down, Miss Chi. I'm here to deliver something."
Pei Si pulled out a bank card from his pocket and placed it on the coffee table.
"I believe this is something you accidentally dropped."
Chi Mu Jiu was at a loss for words. The card was the deposit Pei Si had given her; she had pretended to drop it before getting out of the car, tossing it into the gap between the seats. She never expected this man would actually return it.
"I'm not accepting your money. The deal still needs to proceed. I just want to tell you, Miss Chi, that no matter what, you must be part of this gamble."
When Pei Si said this, he appeared calm, but Chi Mu Jiu could see a hint of madness in his expression and a glimmer of greed in his blue eyes.
"Miss Chi, you should really accept it."
The bank card was offered to her once more, but Chi Mu Jiu remained unmoved.
Seeing that she had no intention of taking it, Pei Si fell silent for a moment before slowly speaking again.
"Miss Chi, this deal is very important to me. I have my goals, and you are the key to achieving them."
"Mr. Pei, your matters have nothing to do with me. Right now, it seems that if I don't comply with you, you'll resort to using your underhanded tactics against those around me."
You should know that the only person who can threaten me is one individual. I agreed to make a deal with you solely to ensure his safety. The fact that you could so easily intrude into my home shows that you possess abilities that command respect.
This is a nation, not your lawless territory.
Her dark brows furrowed slightly, her expression calm and unyielding, revealing no trace of fear.
