Unjust!
It was truly a capitalized injustice!
Chi Mu Jiu's heart screamed in anger. She almost shouted out loud that she had been wronged.
The current situation was indeed chaotic. It was absurdly chaotic!
She had come here to gamble with a death-seeking attitude, only to find out that Du Hengyan was the owner of this gambling den?
What does that even mean? Why wasn't it Li Hengyan or Wang Hengyan? Why was it this Du Hengyan whom she knew?
All those days spent thinking about how to protect him, keep him safe, even writing a will and buying insurance, only to be told she didn't have to die, and her opponent in the gambling game was Du Hengyan. Didn't that make her look like a fool?
What was this all about? A joke?
Chi Mu Jiu squinted at Du Hengyan.
Du Hengyan looked back at her with a smile.
Beneath the mask, his beautiful eyes seemed to shimmer with a layer of mist, as clear as autumn water, yet hiding the vastness of the stars and the sea. His slightly trembling eyelashes were as light as butterfly wings.
He wore such an ugly mask too.
Without hesitation, he reached out and yanked the mask off Chi Mu Jiu's face, tossing it casually onto the table.
Underneath the mask were delicate brows like distant mountains, exuding a natural Eastern beauty. Below her well-defined nose, her cherry lips were naturally rosy.
"Du Hengyan..."
A complex emotion tinged Chi Mu Jiu's voice; it felt like a thousand words surged in her heart, yet she didn't know where to begin.
"Yes, it's me."
Du Hengyan replied, his voice steady and powerful.
"You! Wait? Huh?"
Before Chi Mu Jiu could finish her sentence, Du Hengyan lifted her up once more and threw her over his shoulder.
Embarrassed and angry, she kicked her legs up and down in an attempt to break free from Du Hengyan's hold.
However, Du Hengyan firmly secured her on his shoulder with just one hand, as if she were nothing more than a lightweight doll.
In her heart, Chi Mu Jiu silently lamented, how could it be like this again! Every time she was carried like this by him, it left her feeling both angry and helpless.
Meanwhile, Du Hengyan's subordinates were all wearing expressions of amusement. They had already spread the word among themselves that their boss had taken a liking to this young lady named Chi.
Watching their boss so dominantly carry his beloved woman, everyone couldn't help but sigh inwardly; their boss was indeed formidable and showed no restraint in his feelings for Miss Chi.
"Keep an eye on her for me," Du Hengyan commanded as he hoisted the little raccoon onto his shoulder and strode out the door.
Behind him came a chorus of responses from his subordinates: "Don't worry, Boss!"
Chi Mu Jiu, perched on Du Hengyan's shoulder, felt even more humiliated and indignant at their words. This Du Hengyan was always so domineering, showing no regard for her dignity!
What kind of behavior is this! How utterly ridiculous!
The elevator dinged as it reached the first floor. When the doors opened, Du Hengyan remained unfazed, carrying her confidently out into the open.
As they walked, his subordinates flanked them on either side. Chi Mu Jiu felt her face burning with embarrassment; she wished she could find a crack in the ground to hide in.
This man truly made her feel both love and hate.
Once outside the casino, she was promptly shoved into a car.
As the door closed behind them, Chi Mu Jiu was pushed onto the soft seat in the back. Du Hengyan raised an eyebrow and scrutinized her.
"Kiss me."
His voice sounded different now—less deep and more tender.
What?
Chi Mu Jiu furrowed her brow in confusion.
"What? Don't you want me?"
Du Hengyan continued to raise an eyebrow, but his body leaned in closer and closer.
As Chi Mu Jiu's heart raced uncontrollably, she could feel the intense aura radiating from Du Heng Yan. It was a kind of sexual tension that she found impossible to resist.
Under Du Heng Yan's gaze, Chi Mu Jiu clumsily pressed her lips against his in a fleeting kiss, like a dragonfly touching the surface of water. Yet, this light kiss made Du Heng Yan nod in satisfaction.
He pulled away from her, and seizing the opportunity, Chi Mu Jiu quickly sat up. "Let me see the wound."
Without waiting for her to protest, Du Heng Yan pulled her back into his embrace. Chi Mu Jiu didn’t resist; instead, she removed the silk sleeve from her wrist.
The long scar had already formed a scab, contrasting sharply with her fair skin and creating a striking visual impact.
Du Heng Yan clicked his tongue softly, his brows furrowed as if he were somewhat reproaching her.
What’s with that expression? Chi Mu Jiu pouted, thinking that Du Heng Yan was scolding her.
