"What kind of reason is this?" Chi Mu Jiu mumbled, her delicate features slightly furrowing in concern.
"Besides, I know," she added.
"Know what?" Du Heng Yan asked, looking at her with keen interest. He tilted his chin slightly, his deep-set eyes resembling a bottomless lake, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth as if he were anticipating Chi Mu Jiu's response.
"I know you... you like me." Chi Mu Jiu felt a bit shy, her cheeks flushing lightly.
"Yes, I like you," she admitted softly, lowering her head and changing the subject. "So, are you going to take me to see where you usually work?"
Her voice carried a hint of excitement, and her eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"If you're interested, that's no problem," Du Heng Yan replied. He stepped out of the car first, and without hesitation, Chi Mu Jiu reached out to grasp his wrist.
The warmth of his skin transferred to her palm.
When the elevator chimed again, Chi Mu Jiu was astonished by the vast area before her.
This was the top floor of the casino, Du Heng Yan's private domain.
Brilliant crystal chandeliers sparkled like stars, illuminating the entire space. The light reflected off the ground, casting vibrant colors that danced around them. Tall columns were intricately carved with exquisite patterns, showcasing a blend of classic elegance and grandeur.
The surrounding walls were adorned with high-end velvet material, and priceless works of art hung from them, exuding a rich aura and artistic charm.
Soft and comfortable leather sofas surrounded them, complemented by luxurious throw pillows that featured intricate designs in harmony with the sofa's style, adding warmth and comfort to the atmosphere.
A massive floor-to-ceiling window dominated one wall, offering a breathtaking view of the city's splendor. The window acted like a giant mirror, capturing the beauty of the cityscape.
Against the backdrop of this grand window stood a large office desk—this was Du Heng Yan's workspace.
The desk was spacious and tidy, adorned with various items and office supplies. Its high-end, luxurious material exuded a sense of stability and grandeur.
After stepping out of the elevator, Chi Mu Jiu glanced around and soon realized that at the end of this side, there was a wall adorned with military weaponry.
Seeing this, Chi Mu Jiu understood why this place was referred to as the private area. The space was completely open, without any independent rooms or partitions in sight. The only thing that could obstruct the view was a massive Roman column standing in the center.
Being here gave one a sense of boundless freedom and unrestrained spirit. However, this design also made the entire area feel exceptionally vast and desolate, as if it were isolated from the world.
In the center of the private area stood a huge gambling table, its green velvet cloth smooth and even, with golden decorative edges that shimmered luxuriously.
Chi Mu Jiu found herself drawn to it uncontrollably, her delicate fingers gently gliding over the table's surface, feeling its smooth texture beneath her fingertips.
“Du Heng Yan, are these cards made of gold foil?!” she exclaimed in surprise as she picked up one of the cards from the table, her eyes filled with wonder and excitement as if she had discovered a hidden treasure. The gold foil card sparkled brilliantly under the light.
“If you like them, I have plenty more here,” Du Heng Yan replied leisurely, his voice steady and magnetic, instilling an inexplicable sense of security within her.
Then, Chi Mu Jiu watched as he calmly took out his phone and pressed a button. Instantly, the wall before them seemed to be enchanted; it split in two and slowly moved back, revealing a breathtaking sight inside.
The wall was lined neatly with gold bricks that gleamed dazzlingly.
“I know you’re wealthy, but I didn’t expect you to be this rich,” Chi Mu Jiu said in awe, her mouth slightly agape as she stared at the wall of gold, looking quite adorable in her astonishment.
Du Heng Yan chuckled softly at her reaction, feeling both amused and somewhat helpless. To him, nothing here was less valuable than this gold; it wasn’t about how much wealth he possessed but rather what that wealth represented.
“Hmm, I can see that now. Congratulations on gaining another title,” he remarked with a hint of teasing in his tone.
Chimu Jiu was still immersed in shock, and she had no desire to refute Du Hang's disdainful words. Who doesn't love wealth? She reached out to touch the uniformly sized gold bricks, feeling a myriad of emotions swirling within her.
