Du Hengyan held her tightly, and Chi Mu Jiu knew he was holding back.
"I want you so much, but acting on it right here isn't the best choice."
He slowly leaned closer to her ear, whispering softly. Despite his breath being rapid and heavy, as if he had just emerged from an intense battle, his deep, hoarse voice was gentle and warm like a spring breeze, carrying an irresistible charm. Each word seemed to be carefully considered before leaving his lips, making them sound particularly serious.
Chi Mu Jiu, held tightly in his embrace, paused for a moment and regained her composure.
"Be good; you'll soon have the answer to what you want to know. You won’t, I won’t, and I certainly won’t let you choose for me. Do you understand? My silly Miss Chi."
A slight smile appeared on his lips, his eyes filled with affection.
Chi Mu Jiu felt warmth spread through her heart as she slowly replied, "I understand, my model boss Du."
"I think I’d prefer to hear something after 'model,' like husband or boyfriend?"
Chi Mu Jiu teased.
"Isn't that a bit too cheesy?"
She hesitated for a moment before asking him a question.
Du Hengyan's deep eyes locked onto hers intently.
"What is it?"
She was taken aback, feeling a bit nervous under his gaze.
"What are we to each other now?"
Du Hengyan's expression was filled with anticipation, tinged with a hint of nervousness.
"When I bought the accident insurance, I listed you as the beneficiary," Chi Mu Jiu said softly.
"I know."
Du Hengyan's gaze was intense, waiting for her to continue.
"In the beneficiary relationship section, I chose 'husband.'"
As Chi Mu Jiu uttered those last three words, surprise lit up Du Hengyan's eyes, and a flush crept quickly to his ears, clearly revealing his uncontainable excitement and joy.
Seeing Du Hengyan's reaction, Chi Mu Jiu couldn't help but feel delighted and wanted to steal another glance at him, but he tightened his embrace slightly.
"No looking."
Listening to the powerful rhythm of his heartbeat, Chi Mu Jiu lifted her head, preparing to plant a kiss on his thin lips when the elevator suddenly chimed.
She shrank back like a startled little rabbit.
Du Hengyan couldn't help but smile at Chi Mu Jiu's reaction, his mood lifting even further.
At that moment, the elevator doors slowly opened, revealing two of Du Hengyan's trusted aides.
He quickly suppressed his smile and asked the newcomers in a low voice, "Is everything taken care of?"
