Du Hengyan felt no less troubled than she did. His precious wife, who he cherished like a treasure, had suffered for days because their first time together had been so indulgent that it left her in a state of weakness.
It was a pity that she had to endure such suffering for so long.
Chimu Jiu nodded slightly, her eyes appearing somewhat dazed. During the past few days of unconsciousness, she had found it difficult to swallow even a bowl of plain porridge, relying solely on glucose infusions to maintain the most basic nutritional needs of her body.
Du Hengyan gently pressed a tender kiss on her delicate lips, then removed the towel from her forehead that had been used for cooling. He softly caressed her still slightly flushed cheeks, frowning slightly.
"You're still a bit warm," he murmured, then softly added, "Let me get you another towel."
Chimu Jiu did not respond verbally but silently watched him as he turned toward the bathroom. When he returned, he held a fresh towel in his hands.
The cool towel was placed back on her forehead, and the refreshing sensation gradually spread across her skin.
After a moment, the faint sound of a keypad lock echoed in Chimu Jiu's ears. It must be Du Hengyan's brothers bringing food.
"I'll open the door; you just stay here and lie still," Du Hengyan instructed gently.
However, Chimu Jiu pouted like a child and protested softly, "No."
Though her voice was small, her reluctance was evident.
Seeing this, Du Hengyan said nothing more and directly lifted her off the bed. It was only then that Chimu Jiu realized she had somehow changed into a cartoon-themed pajama set.
So all this time, Du Hengyan had been taking care of her?
Her face flushed with embarrassment.
The pajamas she changed into completely concealed the marks left on her skin. Du Hengyan effortlessly lifted her with one arm, as if she were as light as a feather.
As they stepped out of the bedroom, Du Hengyan's free hand smoothly reached for the soft blanket on the sofa. He gently draped it over Chi Mu Jiu, covering the kiss marks on her neck and collarbone.
Upon entering the living room, a pleasant warmth enveloped them, neither too hot nor too cold, just right. The air conditioning was set to a comfortable temperature.
Du Hengyan carried her straight to the door, and with a soft sound, it slowly opened.
"Boss!"
The brothers standing at the entrance turned their gazes in unison towards their boss and his wife in his arms. After a brief silence, they hurriedly spoke up, "Madam, all of this has been specially prepared for you by the kitchen at the boss's request."
Before he finished speaking, several others followed closely behind him, each carrying various dishes on plates of different sizes. The spread included a well-balanced mix of meat and vegetables, along with fragrant soups and noodles.
In an instant, the entire open dining area was filled with the enticing aroma of food. Chi Mu Jiu felt as if she were an ancient emperor about to dine.
"Try it and see if it suits your taste."
Chi Mu Jiu picked up a piece of meat and put it in her mouth, then took a sip of the fresh soup that Du Hengyan had served for her. To be honest, she couldn't discern any particular flavor.
Perhaps due to her illness, her sense of taste remained dulled. Whether it was the delicious broth or tender meat, they seemed to have lost their original appeal to her. Even the most basic distinction between salty and bland was beyond her grasp.
