In the gambling house, the crowd's gaze frequently shifted between Du Hengyan and Chi Mu Jiu. Wasn't it said that he was indifferent to women? Yet, it seemed he was quite taken with the woman beside him.
As they observed the intimate gestures between the two, curiosity filled their minds. Du Hengyan had chosen his jadeite in less than three minutes during the hour-long selection period. Could it be that he was truly enchanted by that little vixen beside him?
After all, it was just a man's way of playing with a woman. Spending a little money in this entry-level gambling game to win a woman's favor was nothing unusual; women were easiest to please.
While the gamblers competed to select their desired jadeite, they quietly watched every move of Du Hengyan and Chi Mu Jiu, creating a complex atmosphere in the upper hall of the venue. At the center of this storm, Du Hengyan and Chi Mu Jiu remained remarkably calm.
In the mysterious and ambiguous ambiance of the gambling house, Chi Mu Jiu leaned closer to Du Hengyan's ear and whispered, "I think they're definitely saying you're a hypocrite." Her voice was low but laced with teasing curiosity.
Regardless of what they said, once the gambling event ended, she would cut out their tongues and feed them to wolves. Du Hengyan dismissed her words with indifference; a flicker of emotion passed through his deep-set eyes but was quickly overshadowed by a hint of hostility.
He slightly raised his gaze and scanned the surrounding crowd. Although these individuals had no direct connection to him, each one was a leader of international underworld forces. In such a peculiar place, it was perfectly normal for black to govern black.
Chi Mu Jiu looked at his stern face and couldn't help but mutter, "Cruel." After saying this, she pouted and, taking advantage of Du Hengyan's momentary distraction, boldly touched his chest again.
However, before she could withdraw her hand, Du Hengyan grasped her wrist firmly. Then, in one swift motion, he lifted her effortlessly with one hand.
Due to inertia, Chi Mu Jiu instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "Hey!" she exclaimed, her face filled with shock and embarrassment.
"What are you doing, Du Hangyan?"
Du Hangyan's lips curled slightly upwards. After the stone selection was over, it was natural to head to the hall to observe the stone gambling. "My lady, don’t be afraid. You like to touch, don’t you? Let me give you a chance to indulge."
As he spoke, he forcefully held her hand tightly against his chest.
Chi Mu Jiu's cheeks instantly flushed crimson. "Aren't you ashamed, Du Hangyan?"
"What do I have to be ashamed of? The only person who can act this way with me is you, my lady."
He embraced her and calmly walked into the elevator, his firm strides seemingly declaring his sovereignty to the world.
In front of the exhibition stage in the hall, exquisite and expensive sofas were also placed. Du Hangyan strode confidently to the center and seated the beauty in his arms firmly on his lap once more.
At that moment, guests began to descend from the upper gambling rooms and took their seats on the soft sofas one after another.
Chi Mu Jiu wore a mask that provided her with a layer of protection, emboldening her spirit. She began to carefully observe the attire and behavior of these people.
Just as her gaze had not yet returned, she suddenly heard a sentence in Chinese with a foreign accent: "Boss Du truly has exquisite taste!"
Chi Mu Jiu turned slightly and saw a fierce-looking Corey sitting in the closest position to Du Hangyan. It seemed that in this gambling game, Corey held significant authority; otherwise, he wouldn't dare sit at the table next to Du Hangyan.
Du Hangyan lowered his head slightly and tightened his embrace around the beauty in his arms, signaling her not to be afraid. Then he lifted his thin eyelids, directing his cold gaze at Corey as if looking at someone inconsequential.
"If we're talking about taste, I can't compare to you. You dare to act so lewdly under everyone's watchful eyes."
Du Hangyan's voice was not loud, yet it possessed an invisible penetrating power in the quiet hall; each word clearly reached everyone's ears.
With that remark, Corey's expression immediately changed. His originally fierce demeanor became even more menacing, as if flames of anger were burning in his eyes.
However, amidst the ferocity, there was a hint of embarrassment. He clearly did not expect Du Hengyan to publicly call out his shortcomings with such ruthlessness.
