Although Corey was suppressing his anger, his words still carried a noticeable edge.
As Corey spoke, the murmurs around him quieted down, and everyone was waiting for the situation to unfold further. They had come to this underground gambling den to gamble, after all. Boss Du, this is your first time here; how can you leave without playing a couple of rounds?
Corey tried to provoke the game again. However, Du Hengyan responded leisurely, "I came to this gambling den purely because my beautiful companion wanted to see the scene." He cast a gentle glance at the woman in his arms, Chi Mu Jiu, and continued, "As long as my beauty enjoys it, her words are my words. I, Du Hengyan, never lack money."
Once those words left his mouth, the beauty in his arms blushed and snuggled closer to him, seemingly touched by Du Hengyan's affection.
Corey's eyes darkened slightly as a thought sprang to mind. He looked at Du Hengyan and Chi Mu Jiu, calculating how he could regain his face in this gambling game while also finding a way to turn the situation to his advantage.
"Since Boss Du has said so, then I must gamble with you and your beautiful companion!"
At that moment, Chi Mu Jiu felt secretly delighted; she knew her goal had been achieved. However, on the surface, she feigned exhaustion, yawning and playfully complaining, "Brother Du is tired; this gambling stone isn't fun at all."
Her voice was soft and laced with a hint of fatigue and dissatisfaction. She slightly furrowed her brows, her eyes half-closed as if she could fall asleep at any moment.
Du Hengyan understood her cue and calmly stood up, his tone both tranquil and indulgent. "If you're bored, let's change places."
"Boss Du, what about our gambling game?" Corey began but was directly interrupted by Du Hengyan.
"My beauty says she's tired; we can talk about the gambling tomorrow. You won’t miss this day, will you?"
With that, Du Hengyan unhesitatingly picked up the beauty in his arms and strode towards the exit without paying any mind to Corey.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Du Hengyan carried the beauty effortlessly and confidently exited the gambling hall.
Kori sat on the sofa, watching the figures of Du Hengyan and Chi Mu Jiu leave, feeling increasingly indignant.
After Du Hengyan carried Chi Mu Jiu a short distance away from the gambling stone hall, he leaned closer to her ear and whispered, "How am I doing, my lady?"
Chi Mu Jiu slightly raised the corners of her mouth and replied, "Good! But you almost slipped up. Du Hengyan, you need to change this habit of yours; calling me 'my lady' every day is becoming your catchphrase."
Du Hengyan merely smiled, unbothered by her words. "I think having a catchphrase isn't so bad."
After a moment of silence, a glint of mischief flashed in Du Hengyan's eyes. "My lady, don't forget that you still owe me a kiss."
"Do you still remember that?"
Seeing her adorable expression filled him with joy. "I'll make sure to ask for it properly later. By the way, I'm curious about what types of stones you chose for the other two?"
"Just pick randomly; I only need to win once."
Meanwhile, back at the gambling stone venue, the game was still ongoing. When it came time for Chi Mu Jiu to select her other two jade stones, the expressions of those around her shifted from pale to green and back again.
Those two were truly worthless stones!
