Upon seeing Du Hangyan and Chi Mujiu emerge, the exquisite woman cast a scrutinizing glance at Chi Mujiu. The beauty still wore a mask, but she appeared to be in good spirits, suggesting that her allergies had improved somewhat.
"Boss Du, the gambling event is about to begin. Allow me to escort you and the young lady to the casino," said Ling Xian.
"Thank you, Miss Ling," Chi Mujiu replied, maintaining her usual politeness.
As they exited the hotel, Chi Mujiu glanced at the gambling venue across the street and noticed something unusual today. Not a single gambler occupied the tables outside. In stark contrast, the viewing area on the upper level of the hotel had more spectators than yesterday—at least double.
Could it be that all those gamblers from yesterday had moved to the viewing platform to place their bets? With a heart full of suspicion, Chi Mujiu continued her stride toward the interior of the casino.
As they ventured deeper inside, the sights before them became increasingly breathtaking. The architecture was nothing short of extravagant. Gleaming Roman columns sparkled brilliantly, while the carpet beneath their feet was adorned with dazzling golden edges, resembling a flowing river of gold across the floor.
"Boss Du, we have arrived," Ling Xian said softly. At that moment, her two subordinates stepped forward and deftly pushed open the large door that had been tightly shut.
"Please, come in."
Before stepping into the spacious casino hall, Chi Mujiu's gaze was immediately drawn to the central area. To her surprise, within such a vast space, there were only a few card tables set up. In stark contrast were countless plush red chairs surrounding them, all of which were occupied.
Chi Mujiu slowly raised her head and looked up. In the circular casino's upper tier, enormous objects loomed prominently. These items were shrouded in thick black fabric, obscuring their true nature from view. Judging by their outlines against the black cloth, they appeared to be some sort of containers for items.
Ling Xian gestured to the personnel above, and soon after, the voice of the event host resonated throughout the casino hall.
"Once again, we welcome all our esteemed guests to this gambling event! Today's session is sure to be one that our guests have been eagerly anticipating!"
"Now, let the gamblers take their seats!"
As soon as the words were spoken, the doors of the gambling hall swung open in response.
Chi Mu Jiu scanned the room; some faces were new, while others she recognized from the first stone gambling event. Of course, Du Chengyan was among them.
"Boss Du, Miss, according to the rules of the gambling hall, only one gambler can take the stage at a time."
Ling Yun's words were veiled, but Chi Mu Jiu understood them clearly. The implication was simple: either she would go up to gamble, or Du Chengyan would, or they would each gamble separately.
Du Chengyan.
Chi Mu Jiu softly called his name, a wave of indescribable anxiety washing over her. She lifted her gaze slightly, looking at the tall man beside her with a cold demeanor.
Du Chengyan tightened his embrace around her slightly. "Do you want me to go up with you? No problem. Here, no one can dictate or restrict my actions."
His deep voice reached Chi Mu Jiu's ears, carrying an irresistible charm. Yet, upon hearing those words, her heart raced even faster.
She wanted to join Du Chengyan in the gamble; however, if he were to break the rules of this underground gambling event just for her sake, even if she ended up winning, it would likely bring him trouble.
She wasn't part of that world; Du Chengyan belonged to her.
While he wasn't afraid of trouble, she didn't want to impose invisible pressure on him because of her actions.
Taking a deep breath, Chi Mu Jiu worked to calm herself down. "No, just wait for my good news and see how I handle these dogs."
Her eyes were resolute, her words filled with confidence and determination. "I brought you luck yesterday; I'll do it again today!"
"Alright, my lady, don't be afraid. You can do whatever you want. I’ll be right behind you."
With that, she gracefully stepped onto the stage and took the seat that originally belonged to Du Chengyan.
He took his seat on the red upholstered chair, accompanied by others.
