From the current situation, it seemed that Boss Du was well-prepared and confident. Corey shot a fierce glare at Tanlin after hearing his words, but Tanlin merely shrugged it off, indifferent. After all, compared to the assets Corey might lose, the area he had bet on was nothing significant.
"Two guests at the table, please continue the game," the dealer announced softly after the round concluded, signaling for Chi Mu Jiu to continue betting.
"Mr. Les, please check your cards."
Just moments ago, Chi Mu Jiu had raised his bet to a billion. Before it was Les's turn to check his cards, Du Hengyan and Corey had already revealed their hands and were in a standoff.
"I raise it to a billion!" Les declared as he accepted the cigar handed to him by the dealer. With the flick of a lighter, he reignited his confidence and raised the stakes once more.
Chi Mu Jiu feigned anxiety as he glanced at Du Hengyan, hesitating. Les was even more smug, while the other three players silently observed the unfolding tension.
"What’s there to be afraid of? If you want to follow, then follow; if you want to raise, then raise. Those winnings I just made aren’t enough to cover your loss this round?" Du Hengyan immediately caught on to Chi Mu Jiu's intentions, his tone dripping with disdain.
Every word he spoke pointedly avoided mentioning Corey while clearly targeting him instead.
"A billion isn't much; if this drug-producing island were liquidated, it would be worth a fortune."
Corey listened to these words, his hands trembling slightly with anger.
"Little beauty, Boss Du has spoken; are you going to follow or not?" Les asked mockingly as he looked at Chi Mu Jiu.
"I'll follow for a billion," Chi Mu Jiu replied, suppressing his inner excitement while feigning hesitation on the surface.
After two rounds of betting, according to the rules of the game, they needed to reveal their first two cards to decide whether to continue checking in the next round.
As the dealer's voice fell, the two cards in front of Chi Mu Jiu and Les were laid out face up.
"Mr. Les, Spades and Diamonds,"
The dealer announced the cards of Les, who looked smugly at Chi Mu Jiu, his eyes full of provocation.
"Lady, Diamonds, Clubs."
Upon hearing her own cards, despite wearing a mask, a feigned worry appeared in her beautiful eyes. Judging by the first two cards, Les's score far surpassed Chi Mu Jiu's. He seemed to be confident of victory.
"Attention, both players! The Spade card has appeared; all subsequent bets must be doubled," the dealer reminded.
After seeing Chi Mu Jiu's cards, a contemptuous smile crept across Les's face. He thought to himself, what kind of cards does she have? It turned out that the total of her two cards didn't even match one of his.
"I raise a hundred million," he declared.
"I say, beautiful lady, you might as well not raise anymore. If you keep going like this, the money Boss Du wins won't even cover your losses; you might end up losing even more!" he laughed.
"Isn't there an old saying in your country? Those who know the times are wise. I think you should listen to me, Miss," Chi Sang chimed in. He was now touching the beautiful legs of several dealers beside him, his words dripping with lewdness.
Chi Mu Jiu frowned, truly unwilling to spare another glance at this old lecher. The others chuckled sinisterly, while Kori's expression shifted slightly.
With two rounds completed and bets doubled, the stakes had reached hundreds of millions. If this woman lost, it would be equivalent to Du Heng losing, which brought him some sense of balance.
"I raise another hundred million."
