Du Hengyan was unyielding!
Chimu Jiu's eyes still held a fading urgency; she wanted to exchange a few more farewell words with Ling Yun. However, just as the words were about to leave her lips, and even before she could fully extend her hand to wave goodbye, the tall man before her abruptly stopped her with an iron grip.
No, no, absolutely not.
The three firm denials echoed in the air. Du Hengyan's voice was deep and resolute as he pressed his hand firmly against Chimu Jiu's small head, as if declaring his authority.
Why?
Chimu Jiu frowned, utterly perplexed. Surely he couldn't be jealous over a mere woman? Was Du Hengyan really the type to be possessive in love?
Do you have some kind of obsession?
With this thought in mind, Chimu Jiu quietly asked.
Du Hengyan heard her and felt both amused and exasperated.
It's not me who has an obsession.
Chimu Jiu was even more bewildered.
What does that mean?
Her mind raced as she tried to decipher the deeper meaning behind Du Hengyan's words.
Suddenly, it seemed she had an epiphany. Her eyes widened in surprise, disbelief etched on her face as she struggled to accept the thought that had just surfaced in her mind.
How did you know?
She asked eagerly.
Du Hengyan, however, confidently countered her question:
What is there that I don't know?
At that moment, Chi Mu Jiu suddenly realized why Du Heng Yan had deliberately reduced her interactions with Ling Yun from the very beginning. It dawned on her that the alluring and fierce woman, the one who seemed so formidable, was actually a rival.
Upon further reflection, it made sense. A woman as strong as Ling Yun, with her powerful aura and exceptional abilities, would indeed be difficult for any man to dominate. It seemed she was destined to be the one in control.
"Boss, the person is waiting for you," a subordinate who had just emerged from the cabin hurriedly reported, bowing respectfully behind Du Heng Yan.
Du Heng Yan nodded slightly, acknowledging the message. "Madam will come along."
"I won't go; you all can talk without me," Chi Mu Jiu replied, understanding that the people on the ship were likely the Chinese side involved in the handover. It wouldn't be appropriate for her to attend such an occasion.
"Alright, I'll be back shortly," Du Heng Yan said, looking at Chi Mu Jiu with a hint of tenderness and reluctance in his eyes.
"Is it really just for this short while that we must part?" Chi Mu Jiu teased with a smile.
Du Heng Yan gestured to a subordinate nearby. "Be more observant."
"Rest assured, Boss!" the subordinates replied almost in unison, their voices loud and synchronized.
"Don't worry; I'll wait for you in the hall."
