In the main hall of the Chi family, the atmosphere was icy cold. Chi Mu Jiu's expression was extremely grim. Did they really think that the Chi family had no one left?
Upon hearing her words, Chi Feng coughed violently, overwhelmed by anger. This was a disaster, a calamity! It was all my fault, all my doing!
Chi Mu Jiu had no desire to remain and witness the impotent rage of the man she once respected. Her admiration for him had dwindled to nothing; she no longer wished to linger in this oppressive and chaotic place for even a moment longer. With a darkened face, she resolutely stood up, exited the hall, and got into her car, heading straight for her mother's cemetery. The car behind her naturally followed closely.
She could only hope that it wasn't too late. She needed to hurry, to go faster. Inside the car, Chi Mu Jiu's body trembled with anger. Over the years, her mother had been her only weakness; her mother was her Achilles' heel. She never expected that Chi Qi Yun, this little schemer, would resort to such malicious actions. If she had arrived even a moment later...
The afternoon light grew denser as autumn settled in, offering little sunshine; a thin layer of haze hung in the sky. At the cemetery, the atmosphere was tense and chaotic.
"Miss! Miss! This is absolutely unacceptable!" Several staff members at the cemetery stood awkwardly in front of Chi Qi Yun, their expressions filled with embarrassment.
"What? You don't want your jobs anymore?! I'm Miss Chi, and you dare to stop me?!"
Chi Qiyun's face was filled with arrogance and dominance, a stark contrast to her previous gentle demeanor. Ever since she confronted Chi Feng, her true nature had been increasingly exposed.
"Miss, please don't make it difficult for us. This place is not just home to the former lady; we are also responsible for the peace of other departed souls."
"Responsible? What do you mean by responsible? Why don't you join them down there instead!"
Chi Qiyun's expression hardened, her eyes glinting with a cold light. Behind her, her followers immediately surrounded the cemetery staff, fists and feet flying.
The workers, terrified, tried to evade the sudden violence but found no escape from the onslaught.
"You dare to oppose me without knowing your own worth? Beat them until they submit!"
A nightmare unfolded in the cemetery. The speaker begged for mercy repeatedly, while the others shrank back, no longer daring to intervene against Chi Qiyun. They could only watch helplessly as violence ensued.
It was only when someone lay motionless on the ground, silent and still, that Chi Qiyun signaled for her people to stop.
A dozen people gathered around a grave, where a photo of a woman smiling sweetly adorned the tombstone. That smile seemed to stab at Chi Qiyun's eyes.
At first glance, she and her mother, Chi Mujiu, bore a striking resemblance.
"Dig it up!! Pry open the urn for me!"
Chi Qiyun barked fiercely, her gaze fixed on the photo on the tombstone.
"I won't let the Chi family go unavenged; I'll take it out on you! Blame your useless daughter for running off with some other man! Blame your fate!"
"What are you waiting for?! Smash it!"
Seeing her followers hesitating, seemingly reluctant to act, she fumed.
"Useless! All of you are useless! What’s there to fear from a dead person?"
With that, she lunged to snatch away a tool from one of her subordinates.
At that moment, a gunshot exploded in the surrounding air.
Bang!
Bang bang!
Then came two more shots, each one closer than the last. Everyone was startled by the gunfire, and Zhi Qiyun was no exception.
