Outside the Chi Group building.
"Miss, you can't—" The security guard's words were caught in his throat as Ning Chen and Jin Su strode down from the car, accompanied by a group of people.
With such an imposing presence, no one dared to stop them. The security guard immediately stepped aside.
Chi Mu Jiu almost instantly entered the lobby of the group. The environment here felt somewhat unfamiliar to her. She had never liked commercial spaces and had little interest in her own family’s group, so her visits to the headquarters had been few and far between.
"Is that really the eldest daughter?!"
The receptionist at the front desk recognized her immediately, her voice filled with surprise.
Chi Mu Jiu's gaze slowly swept across the room, landing on the two phones placed on the counter. The screens prominently displayed today’s trending headline:
【The Eldest Daughter of the Chi Family Finally Makes an Appearance】
"Are all the shareholders present?" she asked, her tone revealing neither joy nor anger.
"Y-Yes, Miss," the receptionist stammered, and even though her tone was difficult to decipher, it was clear that she carried an air of coldness.
Today was the shareholders' meeting.
Chi Mu Jiu felt a surge of satisfaction in her heart; it seemed she had arrived just in time.
In the boardroom on the top floor, more than a dozen shareholders of various ranks were seated.
The shareholders were all wearing extremely grim expressions. Before them lay a chaotic array of hefty compensation claims from the Ling family. I believe the current state of the company is closely tied to all of you present here.
A senior shareholder was the first to speak, his tone theatrical and filled with anger. "Uncle, that’s quite a pointless statement, isn’t it?"
Another shareholder, slightly less agitated, immediately retorted, "In my opinion, we should just sell our shares. The entire group is nothing but an empty shell now."
"You really are easy to criticize from your comfortable position. Don’t think I don’t know you’ve already found a buyer and settled on a price!" Someone ruthlessly exposed the previous shareholder's intentions.
If she, Chi Qiyun, wanted the group, she would need to pay for it; after all, the group was currently in disarray. "Chi Feng claims to be ill, but I suspect he just can’t bear to face everyone."
"Exactly! Why don’t we all just withdraw our shares?"
"But withdrawing won’t bring us any money!"
"What do you suggest we do then?"
The shareholders were arguing back and forth, creating a cacophony of voices.
As Chi Mu Jiu stepped through the door, she heard a group of elderly men inside bickering loudly. It was quite noisy. She frowned; indeed, when the tree falls, the monkeys scatter.
"Who wants to withdraw their shares? I’d be more than happy!" she declared as she elegantly stepped into the room. At that moment, all eyes in the conference hall turned in astonishment toward Chi Mu Jiu.
"I won’t stop anyone who wants to withdraw their shares." She spoke directly and took a seat on the plush chair at the head of the boardroom.
Her beautiful eyes surveyed the group of treacherous old men before her.
In terms of seniority, Chi Mu Jiu was merely a junior in their eyes. However, according to the company's regulations regarding authority, this position rightfully belonged to her. The people present were shocked but tacitly fell silent.
No one wanted to withdraw their shares?
Chi Mu Jiu asked again. Ning Chen and Jin Su stood tall behind her, their gazes equally sharp.
"I want to withdraw my shares!" At that moment, an old man sitting at the edge stood up. Chi Mu Jiu didn’t recognize him; he seemed to be some relative of the Chi family.
"I want to withdraw too!"
