As the sun began to set, Chi Mu Jiu blushed and leaned into his warm embrace. The familiar scent of dragon sandalwood gradually calmed her racing heart.
"Du Heng Yan," she softly called his name, her voice laced with anticipation.
"Madam, I am here. What are your instructions?"
"I want to get married."
Chi Mu Jiu looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with determination and happiness.
In the driver's seat, Jin Su felt a rush of excitement upon hearing his wife's words, nearly mistaking the accelerator for the brake in his eagerness.
(What? Is my wife really that bold? She's going straight for it! We're about to celebrate a wedding! We're going to toast to our boss's wedding!)
Du Heng Yan held her tightly, and Chi Mu Jiu could even hear his heartbeat, which was somehow faster than her own.
Now, getting married only required an ID for registration. "My dear, are you really sure about this?"
"Yes, I’ve been saying I want to marry you from the very beginning."
For some reason, her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.
"I’m ready at any time."
"Then come with me to the Chi family tomorrow."
She paused for a moment. After all, marriage was a significant matter; it was best to inform her family first.
In truth, Chi Mu Jiu thought about bringing Du Heng Yan home and giving her snobbish relatives a piece of her mind. Just tossing the marriage certificate onto the table at the Chi family would feel absolutely exhilarating!
"I will follow your arrangements without any objections."
"Alright then, we’ll go get the marriage certificate first and then head to the Chi family."
"Okay."
The rain fell heavier, and the car moved slowly, the journey ahead seeming a bit long. Du Hengyan wanted to linger a little longer with the beauty in his arms, only to find that she had fallen asleep again, her delicate eyelashes fluttering gently, her sleeping face serene and beautiful.
He gently touched her small hand, warm to the touch, and felt reassured. "Has my lady not been resting well these past few days?" he asked softly.
Since arriving in the country, his lady had been busy handling matters, spending most of her time sleeping at home. Compared to her usual rest schedule abroad, she had been going to bed early and waking up late these past few days.
Jin Su thought for a moment before answering seriously. "Based on the time spent with my lady these days, she has indeed been sleeping for a significant portion of it. She must be truly exhausted. Boss, you have no idea how my lady put on quite a show for those people when she arrived."
At that moment, both Jin Su and Ning Chen had thought she was genuinely asking the brothers to dig graves!
As he spoke about it, Jin Su seemed to have opened up a floodgate of excitement. "You wouldn’t believe it! That Officer Lu looked at our lady with a strange expression; I had to stop him right then!"
Du Hengyan didn’t interrupt him but listened quietly as Jin Su continued to recount everything that had happened regarding Chi Mu Jiu over the past few days.
Strangely enough, the conversation inside the car didn’t disturb the little beauty at all; she didn’t even stir. When they finally reached home, Du Hengyan carried her out of the car, and Chi Mu Jiu merely snuggled closer into his embrace without any sign of waking.
"Boss, you need to handle your injuries. It seems my lady still doesn’t know; you can’t delay any longer, or she’ll make you kneel on the keyboard," Jin Su reminded him as they approached the door.
Du Hengyan nodded and closed the door behind them.
"Yes, that sounds good," he replied.
Outside, the group of brothers nodded in relief. "The boss is indeed a devoted husband!"
"Alright, disperse!"
"Why are you all just standing around? Can’t you be a little more sensible? The boss is visiting Old Deng tomorrow, and we can’t go empty-handed!"
"Right, how can we confront Old Deng without something in our hands?"
"???"
A group of people turned to look at the one who had spoken.
"And you, my brother, you really are a man of action!"
