On the weekend, the two little ones had a day off from kindergarten.
In the living room of the villa, they were engrossed in a card game. A TV drama was playing on the large holographic screen, but it wasn't for the children; it was for Chi Mu Jiu.
"Mommy, the uncles are here!" Chi Qing Yan said with sparkling eyes and a sweet voice while sitting on the tatami mat.
Chi Mu Jiu glanced outside and saw Du Heng Yan's subordinates rushing into the courtyard.
"Mommy, can I go open the door for the uncles?" Du Yu asked in a tender voice, already standing up with his small frame.
"Go ahead," Chi Mu Jiu replied.
"Okay!"
After the door was opened, the brothers first teased the two little ones before getting down to business.
"Madam, two gamblers have come to the gaming area and want to challenge you."
"Got it, let’s go right now." Chi Mu Jiu stretched lazily; countless people had come to her for card games in recent days.
Previously, this gaming area under Du Heng Yan was a hub for information exchange—winning a game could earn you valuable information and chips, while losing could mean losing everything and starting over. Now, those coming to gamble were notorious gamblers from the underworld who had a bit of a reputation. Their purpose in visiting was none other than to see if Chi Mu Jiu truly deserved her title as the goddess of gambling or if it was just an empty name.
"Is Mommy going to work again?" The two little ones pouted, blinking their eyes with a hint of grievance as they looked at Chi Mu Jiu.
"It’s finally a holiday, and we don’t have to go to kindergarten. Now Daddy is going out to work, and now Mommy is too."
"How about you both come along? But on one condition: no causing trouble and no bothering the uncles."
Chimu Jiu held her two little treasures tightly as they rushed towards her.
As soon as Xiaoqingyan and Xiaoduyu heard their mother say they could come along, they joyfully wrapped their arms around Chimu Jiu, showering her with kisses and hugs. "Mommy is the best! Daddy is the best too! We promise not to cause any trouble for Mommy and the uncles!"
"Yes, yes! My brother and I will be very good," they chimed in unison.
Chimu Jiu, however, wasn't truly worried about these two little ones getting into mischief. Although Xiaoqingyan had a temperament somewhat like hers, she was meticulous in her actions—definitely a little cotton-padded jacket from her parents. Xiaoduyu, on the other hand, resembled his father, Du Hanyan, so closely that they seemed like two peas in a pod.
At first, when they were small and nestled in her arms, Chimu Jiu didn't notice it as much. But ever since they started kindergarten, their personalities and appearances began to blossom. Even Du Hanyan himself felt that Xiaoduyu was like his mini-me.
The brothers were all eager to hold the two little ones, but Xiaoduyu firmly held onto his mother's hand. "My sister is a girl; she can be held. But I'm a boy; I need to walk by myself."
The brothers burst into laughter at his words; the atmosphere was truly harmonious and filled with happiness. Xiaoduyu's masculinity was certainly on par with their boss! "I love your stubbornness," one of them remarked.
In the bustling casino lobby, Chimu Jiu cradled her daughter while Xiaoduyu stood beside her, his youthful face surprisingly calm.
"Madam, you’re here. The others are already in the gaming room."
"Yes, please take care of Qingyan and Duyu for me."
Chimu Jiu nodded and attempted to set her daughter down, but at that moment, Xiaoqingyan refused to let go.
"Mommy, can you take me and my brother with you?"
Chimu Jiu knew it well; these two usually weren’t so clingy. The fact that they wanted to follow her into the gambling area meant they must have conspired together to hide some little secret in their hearts.
What if Mom says no?
Mom won't say no. My sister and I have a secret to tell you.
