The curiosity of children is impossible to hide. As soon as they reached the classroom door, Du Yu and Chi Qingyan were surrounded by a group of little friends, bombarding them with questions.
It seemed that the white dress she wore today was a bit too eye-catching.
Chi Mu Jiu looked at the enthusiastic children in front of her, feeling both amused and helpless.
Du Heng, upon hearing his precious wife’s remark, smiled gently. No matter what his beloved wore, the outcome would be the same today.
At that moment, two little kids stood in front of Chi Mu Jiu.
"Auntie, you’re so pretty! Can you be my mom too?"
Chi Mu Jiu was momentarily taken aback by the question.
"I'm sorry," she stammered, "Kids say the most innocent things."
The parents nearby felt a bit awkward and apologized.
"It’s okay," Chi Mu Jiu replied, feeling slightly embarrassed herself.
The child who spoke seemed undeterred and turned to Du Yu and Chi Qingyan, asking, "Can your mom be my mom?"
"No way!" they replied firmly.
"Not even for a day?"
"Not even for a minute!"
"Oh, then can I trade you my toys for her?"
"No way!"
The parents in the classroom listened to their children's innocent conversation and couldn't help but burst into laughter.
By the time the parent-teacher meeting ended, several children were still lingering, reluctant to say goodbye and asking questions.
"Uncle and Auntie, can we come visit you during summer vacation?"
"Uncle's cooking is really delicious!" Chi Qingyan exclaimed.
"Is that so?!" Facing the innocent faces around her, Chi Mu Jiu found it hard to refuse.
"Uncle and Auntie, you are always welcome!"
"Thank you!" The children waved goodbye to the few people in the car, their eyes sparkling with excitement.
Du Hengyan felt a sudden appreciation for the parent-teacher meeting. "It's actually quite nice," he remarked, "all the attention seems to be on our family."
He chuckled, "Next time, let's have Ye Qi and the others come instead. The two of us appearing together is just too eye-catching."
"No way! I protest!"
"I protest too!" The two little ones in the backseat pouted.
"I protest as well." Du Hengyan paused for a moment, unable to suppress a smile. "My dear wife, this time it's three votes against one."
"I'm just saying! When did you three start wearing the same pants?"
"No way! Mom, my brother and I put on our own pants every day!"
"Does Dad wear his pants with Mom's help every day?" Little Qingyan asked, confused about what Chi Mu Jiu meant by "wearing the same pants."
"Sweetheart, adults are talking right now. Let's not interrupt," Du Yu said, though he too didn’t fully understand but could tell that their mother was blushing.
Oh.
Xiao Qingyan nodded thoughtfully.
Du Heng drove with a hint of a smile in his eyes as he glanced at Chi Mu Jiu, who was sitting in the passenger seat, his expression a mix of amusement and intrigue.
His precious wife had turned red from a single remark made by their daughter.
So adorable, too adorable; he couldn't help but want to kiss her.
