Chimu Jiu noticed that something was off in his voice, and she recalled how her classmates had just teased her and Su Siyi. Suddenly, she felt a bit embarrassed.
Curious glances from passing students scrutinized her and Su Siyi.
Could it be that Su Siyi was about to confess?
Oh no, this was not the time for drama; the graduation ceremony was about to begin.
"I thought we were friends," Su Siyi said, his eyes reddening.
This was the first time Chimu Jiu had seen him look at her with such sorrowful eyes.
"Just because we are friends, some things don't need to be said."
Chimu Jiu averted her gaze, only to see Chi Qiyun standing not far behind Su Siyi.
"Jiu, actually I—"
"Hey, why are you still here? The graduation ceremony is about to start!"
In the corridor, two teachers held a thick stack of papers, their black-framed glasses reflecting blinding sunlight.
Su Siyi's words were interrupted.
"We're on our way, teachers," Chi Qiyun said cheerfully, taking the lead.
Behind the two teachers stood another student. Dressed in a clean and tidy uniform that didn’t belong to their school, he looked at Chimu Jiu with concern.
"Chimu Jiu? Why are you still here? The car waiting for you outside has been here for a while."
One of the teachers asked.
Su Siyi turned to look at her in surprise.
"Um, I still have some things to pack up, so I’m running a bit late."
Chimu Jiu replied politely, but her hands felt empty.
At the entrance of the academy, the person waiting for her had been there for quite some time. As soon as he spotted the figure of Chi Mu Jiu, he hurriedly approached her.
"Miss, the flight is about to be delayed."
"Weren't you supposed to pack up?"
"Forget it, let's go."
Chi Mu Jiu stepped out of the school gate, and as the announcement echoed in the background, she got into the car. The door closed, and the vehicle sped away.
"Next, we invite Lu Jin Zhi from the academy to come up and give us a speech."
Such is fate; if we meet someone early on but without any connection, there will inevitably be a day in the future when we meet again. Perhaps you may not remember him, but they will always linger in that summer waiting to see you.
"So, darling, have you met Lu Jin Zhi before?"
Du Heng Yan looked gently at the woman in his arms and asked softly.
Chi Mu Jiu slowly pulled herself from her memories back into reality. She nodded lightly and then picked up the package she had just opened. Inside was a graduation photo and a wedding invitation.
Du Heng Yan held her tightly, and they nestled comfortably on the soft sofa, enjoying this warm moment together.
"I want to know, darling, were you waiting for someone back then?"
Hearing him accurately grasp the essence of the story made Chi Mu Jiu smile. Indeed, Du Heng Yan always had a knack for noticing every little detail.
"Yes and no," she replied softly.
Du Heng Yan raised an eyebrow slightly. "Are you feeling jealous?"
Chimu Jiu smiled playfully, then nestled even closer into his embrace. She placed the wedding invitation along with her graduation photo on the coffee table. The red invitation clearly displayed the names of Su Siyi and another woman.
