"I received your wedding invitation. Wishing you a happy marriage," said Chi Mu Jiu in a gentle voice.
On the other end of the phone, Su Si Yi's cheerful laughter came through, as if one could see the smile curving at the corners of his mouth through the screen. "Thank you for the blessing. Will you and your husband be attending the wedding?" He still hoped that his friends would witness this important moment in his life.
Du Heng Yan, who was beside him, answered without hesitation, his deep eyes subtly glancing at Chi Mu Jiu, revealing his thoughts: People may not come, but gifts must be given.
Su Si Yi understood the implication of this statement and couldn't help but laugh. "Not coming? My fiancée has been telling me she wants to see how well-matched you two lovebirds are."
His tone was light and humorous, yet it was hard to tell if there was a hint of disappointment or other emotions mixed in.
"Well, if you only called to collect gift money, then you've completed your mission. Remember to report back to your wife; hiding private savings could get you into trouble," Chi Mu Jiu replied playfully, making the atmosphere even more relaxed and cheerful.
She seemed to be kindly reminding Su Si Yi on the other end, but her bright eyes never left Du Heng Yan, who was kneeling at the keyboard. A slight smile played on her lips, as if she held some unspoken secret.
"Isn't that right, Du Heng Yan?" Chi Mu Jiu intentionally elongated her words, her tone teasing and playful.
Du Heng Yan remained silent, yet his eyes revealed a sense of helplessness and indulgence. "That's right; my wife is correct," he replied with a smile.
Su Si Yi wanted to say something more, but a busy tone interrupted them. Chi Mu Jiu hung up the phone and turned her attention back to Du Heng Yan. She crossed her arms and wore a serious expression as she stared at him. "Kneel properly and confess—when did you start hiding private savings?"
Du Heng Yan smiled gently, sitting up straight with no trace of panic in his gaze, as if he had anticipated Chi Mu Jiu's question all along. "I didn't plan to hide anything."
He spoke softly.
"Then why haven't you submitted the money from that card? Are you trying to hide some secret stash?"
Chi Mu Jiu asked with a feigned pout, though she knew in her heart that Du Heng Yan was just playing along with her antics.
No matter how long he knelt at this keyboard, his legs wouldn’t give out.
That was the travel fund for a secret getaway with his beloved wife.

She looked at the man in front of her, who wore a smile as warm as spring sunshine, puzzled.
"What secret getaway?"
"Our five-year anniversary."
"So soon?"
"Has it really been five years? Time flies so fast?"
She found it hard to believe as she scrolled through her phone’s calendar of commemorative dates.
Five-year anniversary, at the end of this month.
Perhaps when you’re truly in love, time always seems to pass more quickly than anything else.
"So, my dear wife, can I get up now?"
Du Heng Yan's voice carried a hint of grievance.
"No, you’re hiding such a big thing from me. Keep kneeling."
"Understood!"
Without waiting for an answer, he didn’t want to spoil his wife's good mood.
The highest command at home: everything revolves around the wife.
"You mentioned a secret getaway; what about our two little treasures?"
Chi Mu Jiu's beautiful eyes revealed a hint of concern.
"Whoever wants them can take them."
Du Hengyan shrugged slightly.
"No one is allowed to interrupt my sweet journey with my beloved wife, not even our son or daughter."
"You really are the most stubborn man I've ever met," she replied.
"My dear wife, I'm not just stubborn with my words; you should know better than anyone."
A teasing glint danced in his eyes.
