Mo Xuan, Xuanyu, and Zong Ze had just finished dinner at a nearby restaurant when Zong Ze drove his 2005 BMW sports car towards The Crescent Moon in the new district of L City. The car sped down the road, and the atmosphere inside was tense as the three of them contemplated the mysterious event they were about to face. The value of Zong Ze's car further confirmed Xuanyu's earlier deduction about Zong Ze's identity—"You wouldn't be troubled by money," which indeed held some truth. 0

At 9:20 PM, they arrived at the rooftop of Building Seven at The Crescent Moon. As Mo Xuan had suspected, the invitee known as "Moonlit Puppet" had gathered a considerable number of people, including Zong Ze. At that moment, around forty to fifty individuals were already on the rooftop, several of whom Zong Ze recognized. Everyone expressed that they had come here because of a mysterious invitation sent by someone claiming to be "Moonlit Puppet." 0

It seemed that "Moonlit Puppet" had made thorough preparations; in the center of the rooftop, over a hundred beach chairs were neatly arranged, forming a sizable audience area. By 9:50 PM, nearly a hundred spectators had gathered, many of whom knew each other. They buzzed with discussions about receiving the Mysterious Message, creating a lively atmosphere filled with curiosity and confusion on everyone's faces. 0

Meanwhile, many had already taken their seats in the audience area, their eyes fixed on the empty space in front of them. They occasionally glanced at their watches, anticipation evident on their faces as they leaned forward slightly, seemingly afraid to miss the upcoming spectacle. 0

At ten o'clock, most people were seated and quietly waiting for the show to begin. Mo Xuan, Xuanyu, and Zong Ze occupied the front row. Unable to contain his curiosity, Xuanyu leaned slightly towards Mo Xuan and asked, "Murong Moxuan, what do you think this so-called spectacle will be?" 0

Mo Xuan replied calmly, "I'm not sure, but it should be a man-made performance related to The Crescent Moon; otherwise, the invitee wouldn't have specified this location." 0

"A performance related to The Crescent Moon?" Xuanyu scratched his head, his brow slightly furrowed. "What could it be?" 0

Mo Xuan leisurely pulled out a box of Tic Tac mints from his pocket, shook out two pieces, tossed them into his mouth, and chewed slowly as he said, "It could either benefit The Crescent Moon or harm it; I suspect the latter is more likely." 0

Just as Mo Xuan finished speaking, a loud bang suddenly erupted from a corner of the rooftop. The crowd erupted in excitement and turned their heads towards the source of the sound. It turned out someone had ignited a firecracker known as Chong Tian Pao in that corner. The firecracker shot straight into the sky with tremendous force, producing a deafening roar before bursting into a shower of colorful fireworks that slowly fell back down. 0

Before the crowd could fully react, the person quickly lit another Chong Tian Pao. With another loud bang, cheers erupted from the audience as many excitedly pulled out their phones, cameras, and camcorders to capture the moment, their eyes glued to where the fireworks blossomed with expressions of exhilaration. 0

Thanks to the light from the fireworks, everyone could see who was launching them—a figure dressed in black night gear with a plastic monster mask covering their face. At that moment, they stood calmly at the edge of the rooftop about twenty or thirty meters away from the audience. 0

Suddenly, the masked figure leisurely pulled out a sharp knife from their waist—a glimmering silver blade that looked incredibly sharp. Many women in attendance gasped in shock while some timid men widened their eyes and covered their mouths in disbelief; most men stared intently at the masked figure without blinking, eager to see what would happen next. 0

Countless eyes were fixed on the masked figure while numerous cameras pointed at them. The masked individual appeared indifferent as they lazily stretched their limbs as if warming up for something. Suddenly, they raised the knife high and swiftly plunged it towards their own throat! 0

Although some spectators had already guessed that the masked figure would harm themselves when they pulled out a sharp knife, no one expected the turn of events to be so swift, the actions so decisive, and the scene so heart-stopping. 0

The crowd immediately erupted in screams, their voices filled with fear, despair, confusion, and helplessness, interspersed with a few excited whistles. Before anyone could fully react, the masked figure's body went limp and fell backward, plummeting from the rooftop like a kite with a severed string. 0

A few quick-thinking individuals, including Mo Xuan, leaped from their seats like arrows shot from a bow, racing towards the spot where the masked figure was falling. However, before they could reach the edge of the rooftop, a loud crash echoed as the heavy body hit the ground. Seconds later, trembling with trepidation, they cautiously approached the edge of the rooftop and peered down. There lay the masked figure sprawled on the ground, their head shattered, brain matter splattered everywhere, and blood glistening ominously under the moonlight. 0

Groups of people began to leave the rooftop of Building Seven, making their way downstairs with heavy steps towards the corpse of the masked figure. Among them, a tall man shouted loudly, "I am a police officer; please do not approach the deceased." As he spoke, he hurried to the body and carefully crouched down to remove the mask from the dead person's face. In an instant, he revealed a man in his mid-thirties with a distorted face and features that appeared to have been contorted in extreme fear before death; his eyes were wide open as if he had seen something horrifying. 0

Although this police officer had ordered everyone not to approach the body, some bold and curious individuals still gathered around. After the officer removed the mask, someone exclaimed in surprise, "Hey, isn't this Xiao Hao?" 0

At that moment, Zong Ze, standing beside Mo Xuan and Xuanyu, suddenly murmured, "Zhang Tianfan?" His voice was so low it resembled a mosquito's buzz but did not escape Mo Xuan's keen ears. She glanced at him discreetly and noticed he was gripping his phone tightly while staring at the screen with a complex expression as if pondering something significant. 0

Just then, another loud "bang" echoed from above—still Chong Tian Pao's voice—followed by fireworks bursting in the night sky in brilliant colors. The crowd instinctively looked up and saw another person standing at the edge of Building Three's rooftop. Dressed in white and wearing a plastic monster mask, it seemed that this individual had ignited the earlier fireworks. 0

As everyone gazed at the white-clad masked figure—some discussing loudly with shock and confusion while others whispered nervously—suddenly, this figure slowly crouched down and leisurely picked up another Chong Tian Pao to ignite it and launch it into the night sky. Just as everyone's attention was drawn to the dazzling display of fireworks, the white-masked figure swiftly pulled out a sharp knife from their waist and plunged it into their throat just like Xiao Hao had done over ten minutes earlier. The crowd gasped in horror and attempted to shout warnings; however, it was too late—their voices could not prevent this tragic act. In an instant, the white-masked figure slumped forward and fell rapidly to the ground. Moments later, with a loud thud, they lay sprawled just meters away from Xiao Hao's corpse. 0

Both bodies had shattered heads; blood and brain matter mingled with the Mid-Autumn moonlight, filling the air with an overwhelming scent of death and iron. The scene was terrifyingly gruesome. Such a heart-stopping spectacle truly deserved to be called a "once-in-a-century wonder," leaving every person present deeply shaken by this bloody tableau etched on their faces with expressions of terror and disbelief. 0
