I rushed out of the laboratory with Zhu Qi on my back, sprinting as fast as I could. The alarm sounds faded into the distance, but my heartbeat grew louder. Zhu Qi's body felt incredibly light, so light that it sent a chill down my spine. 0

“Xiao Dao...” Zhu Qi weakly opened his eyes. “What’s happening...?” 0

“Don’t talk. I’m taking you to a safe place.” 0

Once back home, I carefully laid Zhu Qi down on the bed. His life force was faint but stable for the moment. I tucked him in and gently closed the door behind me. 0

In the living room, my phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Tang Yuan: “Are you home? I miss you so much.” 0

I stared at the screen, my fingers trembling slightly. Her coming to find me at this moment was no coincidence. 0

“I’m here. Come over,” I replied. 0

Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang. Tang Yuan stood there in a purple dress, her makeup flawless, long hair cascading down her shoulders. Her smile was still charming, but it felt particularly blinding to me. 0

“Xiao Dao, you don’t look so well,” she said, reaching out to touch my forehead with concern. 0

I pulled away from her hand. “I might just be tired.” 0

I glanced at my Life Energy: 65%. 0

Life Time: 102 days. It seemed that recent events had drained quite a bit of my Life Energy. 0

“I brought you some late-night snacks,” she said, shaking the bag in her hand. “Your favorite Braised Pork.” 0

I took the bag from her, noticing her gaze wandering around the room as if she were looking for something. 0

“What made you think of bringing me late-night snacks all of a sudden?” 0

“I missed you,” she pouted playfully. “You’ve been acting all mysterious lately. Are you hiding something from me?” 0

I sneered inwardly, but feigned exhaustion on the surface. "What could it be? You know my health isn't great." 0

"I see you've been looking quite well lately," she leaned closer to me, "but Zhu Qi seems to be looking rather sickly, doesn't he?" 0

My heart skipped a beat, yet my expression remained calm. "Maybe he caught a cold." 0

"Is that so..." She seemed to ponder this. 0

At that moment, I noticed a faint red light flickering from the bag she had placed on the coffee table. A listening device! 0

"Are you really concerned about Zhu Qi?" I asked deliberately. 0

"Of course! He's your best friend," she replied with a smile as she stood up. "I need to use the restroom." 0

I watched her walk toward the bedroom. Sure enough, she didn't head to the restroom but quietly pushed open the door to Zhu Qi's resting room. 0

"I caught you," I suddenly appeared behind her. 0

Tang Yuan spun around sharply, her gentle demeanor vanishing in an instant. "You knew all along?" 0

"I just found out today. I always thought you were just greedy for money," I scoffed. "Was it Li Xudong who sent you?" 0

"I took this job from the Dark Web, and I didn't expect it to be a task from Dean Li," her eyes sharpened. "Where is that marvelous little gadget? Hand it over, and I'll give you a hefty sum." 0

I suddenly grabbed her wrist. "What makes you think a little woman like you can come find me alone? Do you really think I'm that weak?" 0

Her face paled as she realized her miscalculation. 0

"You!" She tried to pull her hand back, but my grip was much stronger. 0

"Tell me Li Xudong's phone number." 0

"You won't get away with this!" 0

I pulled out the Life Power Bank and waved it in front of her. "Either you tell me, or..." 0

Her pupils dilated sharply. "158..." 0

After noting down the number, I released her hand. "Now, get out." 0

She bit her lip, a flicker of resentment flashing in her eyes. "You'll regret this!" 0

Once she left, I immediately dialed Li Xudong's number. 0

"I knew you'd call," his voice came through cold and calculating. "Have you made up your mind?" 0

"I'm curious about one thing," I replied. "Do you really think you can control this power?" 0

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds. "What do you mean?" 0

"You'll find out soon enough." I hung up and gazed out at the night sky. 0

The plan has only just begun. 0
