Evan couldn't help but feel a wave of unease, yet he decided to move closer. Whenever he faced a problem, there was always an impulse within him to resolve it rather than avoid it. Slowly, he approached the dog.
Just as Evan drew near, the dog suddenly turned and trotted deeper into the cave. Its steps were light, nearly soundless, as if it were born to be the master of this cavern.
“Hey! Wait!” Evan instinctively called out, then quickly followed after it. The space inside the cave gradually became narrower, and the air began to thin, making Evan feel a sense of suffocation. The dog moved swiftly, and Evan had to almost run to keep up.
After about five minutes, Evan suddenly felt unsteady on his feet, a low rumbling sound echoing in his ears. Just as he was puzzled by it, the ground beneath him shook violently. A deafening roar reverberated through the cave, as if some enormous creature sleeping underground was being awakened.
Evan instinctively halted, his eyes scanning the surroundings. He hadn’t noticed before that ancient symbols adorned the cave wall, glowing faintly as if some power was stirring awake.
“What is this place?” Evan murmured to himself, filled with questions.
At that moment, the dog stopped on a stone and turned its head to bark softly at Evan. The sound was neither an ordinary bark nor entirely canine; it carried an air of ancient authority.
Evan suddenly understood—this dog was no ordinary animal; it seemed to know something significant. It glanced down at Evan before continuing deeper into the cave, as if inviting him to follow.
Evan hesitated for a moment but felt an overwhelming urge—he couldn’t miss this opportunity. Gritting his teeth, he resolutely followed after it.
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted within the cave; stones seemed to shift under some unseen force, and the glow on the cave wall intensified. Startled, Evan jumped back, but the dog continued forward without hesitation. It appeared accustomed to these strange occurrences and occasionally looked back at Evan as if encouraging him to hurry up.
“Is this really where you brought me?” Evan whispered to himself, feeling both astonished and exhilarated. With each step, he sensed he was getting closer to an unknown truth.
After navigating through a narrow passageway, they finally arrived at a vast underground hall. In the center of the hall was a deep blue pool of water, its surface calm and reflective like a mirror. Evan's gaze was irresistibly drawn to the pool; as he approached, he noticed a wooden box floating in its center.
The wooden box looked ancient and worn, its surface etched with strange symbols that emitted an unsettling glow. Evan couldn't help but move closer, his mind filled with curiosity.
"What is this?" he whispered to himself.
Just as he reached out to touch the box, the water in the pool surged violently, the surface suddenly becoming tumultuous. Evan jumped back in shock. At that moment, the dog abruptly turned around and growled softly at him, as if warning him.
"Run!" Evan's heart raced as he finally reacted. He quickly turned to flee, but the water in the pool surged up unexpectedly, like a massive whirlpool, swallowing the air of the entire hall.
Evan sprinted back desperately, the dog close behind him. The current grew stronger, and the ground beneath his feet began to crumble, as if the entire cavern was shaking. Fear filled Evan's heart, but he knew he had to escape quickly.
"Hurry! Don't stop!" he shouted at the dog.
The dog growled again softly, seemingly urging Evan to pick up the pace. They continued to run until they finally squeezed through a crack and escaped from the vast hall. Looking back, Evan saw the water gradually calming down, but he knew that this adventure was just beginning.
