I hurried away from the dock, breathing in the slightly briny night air.
Li Qi had also left.
Her words weighed on me like a heavy stone, making it hard to breathe.
What exactly was this woman planning?
I ran all the way to Hua Long.
The kitchen lights were still on.
Hua Long was busy under the dim yellow light.
He was chopping vegetables, clearly a skilled old chef.
The knife glinted as it moved.
In his hands, the cleaver seemed to come A Li ve.
"Back already?" he asked without looking up.
I nodded and stepped closer to him.
"Liu Feng has been possessed by an evil spirit, and I also encountered Li Qi."
Hua Long paused his work and looked up at me.
"This is all part of your destiny; Chi Jiu Bird must have told you."
I recounted Li Qi's words to him in detail, including her proposal for cooperation.
She showed an unusual interest in my kitchen utensils.
Hua Long fell silent for a moment after hearing this.
"I don't trust her," he said slowly. "Don't believe her too easily."
"I know," I replied, "but do we have any other options right now?"
Hua Long did not answer.
Instead, he showed me how to cook.
He picked up a piece of beef.
Placing it on the cutting board, he said, "This knife has been passed down through my family. It is not just an ordinary kitchen knife."
He lifted the knife.
The blade glinted coldly under the light.
With a swift motion, he swung the knife.
The beef was instantly sliced into thin pieces.
As thin as a cicada's wing.
"It can also bestow special powers upon the food."
He placed the sliced beef into the pot.
"Such as... restoring stamina... driving away evil..."
A strange fragrance wafted from the pot.
I had never encountered such a scent before.
It was filled with temptation.
"Come, try some."
Hua Long served the stir-fried beef onto a plate.
He handed it to me.
I hesitated for a moment.
But then I accepted it.
The beef melted in my mouth.
A warm current surged through my entire body.
I felt invigorated.
"This knife is as powerful as your own," Hua Long said.
I nodded.
Hope filled my heart.
Perhaps, with this kitchen knife, we could truly stop Liu Feng.
Chi Jiu appeared on my shoulder at some point.
It chirped away in its bird language.
It seemed to be cheering me on.
I took a deep breath.
Looking at Hua Long, I said, "Teach me how to use a good knife."
Hua Long smiled.
"Alright."
He picked up a kitchen knife.
He began to teach me how to use two magical kitchen knives, step by step.
I was learning earnestly.
Meanwhile, Hua Long seemed to have noticed that I was disguised as a man.
As I continued practicing my knife skills, Li Qi suddenly burst into the kitchen, her face as pale as paper.
" A Li, something's wrong!" Her breath was hurried and tinged with panic. "Liu Feng... he has poisoned the recent dishes at Zuo Feng Hall with slow-acting poison!"
Both Hua Long and I were taken aback.
"When did this happen?" Hua Long's gaze turned sharp.
"It's been a while," Li Qi said, biting her red lip. "He has infused all the ingredients with deadly poison using Evil Spirit Power. Some of this poison causes fainting, while others drive people insane. If this continues, Zuo Feng Hall will be in serious trouble..."
My heart sank. No wonder some members of the gang had started experiencing dizziness and vomiting recently; I thought it was just my cooking that was off.
"We don't have much time," Hua Long said, thinking quickly. "We need to split up. Chun Li, you take Chi Jiu and head back to Qing Gang immediately. I'll participate in the Culinary Competition hosted by Qing Gang and try to gain Lu Yun's trust to suppress Zuo Feng Hall."
I nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait!" Li Qi grabbed my wrist. "Liu Feng has set up ambushes around the headquarters; you need to be careful."
Chi Jiu immediately jumped onto my shoulder. "Master, I'll fly you over!"
For some reason, I instinctively pulled Li Qi onto Chi Jiu Bird's back as well.
Under the cover of night, Chi Jiu lifted us into the air. However, just as we were halfway there, a chilling aura suddenly struck us.
We weaved between buildings, but Chi Jiu's feathers began to dull, clearly exhausted.
Finally, we returned to Zuo Feng Hall. The sight before me was alarming; the gang members looked pale, some already collapsed on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Hang in there!" I rushed toward the kitchen, my twin knives dancing in the air.
I immediately began slicing and preparing detoxifying ingredients at lightning speed. The Ancestral Kitchen Knife emitted a strange glow, and each cut infused special energy into the food.
"Let me help you," Li Qi said, picking up a glimmering silver knife. "I've been with Lu Yun for many years and have learned some real skills."
So she knew Lu Yun as well.
We worked together seamlessly and soon produced the first batch of detox soup. However, its effects were limited; it could only temporarily alleviate the symptoms.
"It's not enough," I gritted my teeth.
A sudden chill swept through the air, causing the lights in the kitchen to flicker violently. Liu Feng's figure appeared at the doorway, his black hair swirling as if caught in an unseen wind, and a strange red light flickered in his eyes.
"When did you two become so close? Li Qi, have you taken a liking to this pretty boy?" he sneered.
"You may not know, but A Li is just a girl disguised as a boy; she probably can't satisfy you," he continued mockingly.
"Shut up!" Li Qi snapped, her voice sharp. "You use evil spirits to harm your own subordinates; are you even human?"
Liu Feng laughed heartily, and the air around us filled with ghostly wails. "Subordinates? They are merely my pawns. Once the poison takes effect, Qing Gang and the entire Shanghai Bund will descend into madness. By then..."
Before he could finish his sentence, I had already made my move. The Ancestral Kitchen Knife sliced through the air, aimed directly at his throat. Liu Feng sidestepped, simultaneously striking toward my back.
In that critical moment, Li Xiang suddenly charged from the shadows, placing himself in the path of Liu Feng's deadly blow.
"Chun Li, run!" he shouted.
"Master Li Xiang!" I gasped in shock.
The old man's body swayed under Liu Feng's force but he stood tall, turning to me with a gentle smile. "Go on, child. The old man... still has something to do."
Tears welled in my eyes as I grabbed Li Qi and turned to flee. Behind us came Li Xiang's furious roar and Liu Feng's sinister laughter.
Li Qi broke free from my grasp and suddenly surged forward, striking at Liu Feng with a palm strike. Her movements were graceful yet lethal, her red qipao slicing through the air like a vivid arc.
Liu Feng dodged the attack, surprise flashing in his eyes. "You actually had this up your sleeve?"
"I haven't been idle all these years," Li Qi retorted coldly. "Since you want to destroy Shanghai Bund, I'll destroy you first!"
Her figure moved like a red lightning bolt as she engaged Liu Feng in combat. Each strike carried an unwavering determination, as if she had already resolved herself to die fighting.
"Chun Li, hurry! Go join Hua Long Association!" Li Qi shouted amidst the battle.
She threw a package at me, filled with various herbs, most likely for detoxification.
"These herbs, combined with your Ancestral Blade, can restrain the malevolent spirits! Hurry and find Hua Long; we can't let these poisonous ingredients take control of the entire Qing Gang!"
I caught the package, a sharp pain piercing my heart. I understood that Li Qi was buying me time with her life.
"Li Qi..."
"Stop being so sentimental!" she snapped, "Remember, you must at least protect Lu Yun; he can keep Zuo Feng Hall in check."
Chi Jiu tugged at my sleeve. "Master, let's go!"
I gritted my teeth and rushed out of the kitchen. Behind me, the sounds of a fierce battle erupted. I knew that even with Li Qi and Master Li Xiang together, they couldn't match Liu Feng's current strength.
Then came a loud crash, and the entire kitchen shook violently. I dared not look back; tears blurred my vision.
As a young girl with golden hair, I had to do something meaningful to honor them.
