I rested in the side room for a moment, allowing my spiritual energy to recover slightly before I began a more in-depth investigation into You Ying. I knew that to completely defeat him at the Grand Compendium of Immortal Arts, the evidence I currently possessed was far from sufficient; I needed to uncover more of his crimes and schemes.
I dispatched multiple teams of spies to conduct a comprehensive probe into You Ying's daily activities, interpersonal relationships, and the acquisition of cultivation resources. These spies were carefully selected; they were agile, meticulous, and utterly loyal to me.
One team reported that You Ying had recently been frequently entering a forbidden area on the back mountain of Immortal sect. This forbidden area was surrounded by numerous restrictions, prohibiting disciples from approaching at will. What could he possibly be doing there? My mind was filled with doubts, and I decided to investigate personally.
As night fell, like black satin enveloping the entire Immortal sect, I donned a black stealth outfit and moved like a ghost through the forest towards the forbidden area. The woods on the back mountain were dense and eerie; moonlight filtered through the leaves, casting mottled shadows that resembled strange eyes watching me. A faint mist hung in the air, cold and biting, carrying a hint of decay that sent chills down my spine.
When I approached the forbidden area, I indeed felt a powerful force of restriction. Cautiously, I used my celestial techniques to attempt to break this barrier. After some effort, I finally found a weak point in the restriction and successfully infiltrated the forbidden area.
Inside, the mist was even thicker, making visibility extremely low. I could only rely on my keen senses as I cautiously felt my way forward. Suddenly, I heard faint voices coming from not far ahead. Holding my breath, I quietly moved closer to the source of the sound.
Through the mist, I saw You Ying standing before a massive formation, conversing with someone who resembled a Mo Xiu. The Mo Xiu was shrouded in a black cloak, obscuring his features, but the intense demonic aura emanating from him indicated he was no ordinary individual.
"You Ying, how is everything progressing? The Grand Compendium of Immortal Arts is approaching; we must prepare everything before then," the Mo Xiu's voice was deep and hoarse, as if it came from hell itself.
You Ying smirked slightly and replied, "Don't worry; everything is proceeding according to plan. I've spread enough rumors within Immortal sect to put Ling Yao into a crisis of trust. Now we just need to wait for her to embarrass herself at the Grand Compendium of Immortal Arts in front of everyone and lose Immortal sect's trust. At that point, power will fall into my hands."
"Hmph, do not let your guard down. Ling Yao seems to have sensed something recently; you need to be careful she doesn't disrupt our plans," warned the Mo Xiu.
"What can she sense? Even if she has some awareness, she has no evidence. Besides, I've arranged for people to deal with her at any time," You Ying said confidently.
Hearing their conversation ignited a fire of anger within me. Their scheme was far more insidious than I had imagined. I clenched my fists, wishing I could rush out and tear them apart immediately. But I knew this was not the time for rashness; I needed to gather more evidence to capture them all at once.
I quietly took out a communication talisman and recorded their conversation. Then I continued to lurk in the shadows, observing their every move. I saw You Ying pull out a black stone from his robe and hand it to the Mo Xiu. "This is a Demonic Stone stolen from Immortal sect's treasury; with it we can enhance the power of our formation. Even the elders of Immortal sect won't be able to resist."
The Mo Xiu took the Demonic Stone with a glint of greed in his eyes. "Good! With this Demonic Stone, our plan is foolproof. You Ying, you've done well. Once we control Immortal sect, the entire cultivation world will be ours."
At that moment, I accidentally brushed against a leaf, causing a slight rustle. You Ying and the Mo Xiu immediately became alert. "Who’s there?" You Ying shouted fiercely as his gaze shot towards me like lightning.
I cursed inwardly, realizing that I had been exposed. No longer hiding myself, I dashed out from my concealment. "You Ying! Your scheme will not succeed!" I shouted angrily.
Upon seeing me, You Ying was momentarily stunned before revealing a sinister smile. "Ling Yao! I didn't expect you would dare to follow me. Since you're here, don't think you'll leave alive!" With that, he and Mo Xiu launched an attack against me.
I stood unafraid and unleashed my Immortal Secret Technique as we engaged in an intense battle. Although they were powerful together, I managed to hold my ground temporarily with my agile movements and strong will.
However, as the fight wore on, I gradually felt overwhelmed. After all, my spiritual energy had not fully recovered yet and my physical stamina had been greatly depleted after my earlier exploration. Meanwhile, they grew stronger with each passing moment as the power of the Demonic Stone bolstered their attacks.
At a critical moment, I spotted an opening and summoned a protective shield using celestial techniques to temporarily block their assault before turning to flee from the forbidden area. You Ying and Mo Xiu pursued closely behind me but using the complex terrain of the forest allowed me to successfully shake them off.
Back in my side room, I gasped for breath but was filled with worry. You Ying's plot was even more terrifying than I'd imagined; if he succeeded, Immortal sect would surely fall into great disaster. I needed to hasten my efforts and find a way to stop him before the Grand Compendium of Immortal Arts arrived.
