"Let Mother Zhang do it; I don't want to anymore." I said flatly, my voice devoid of any emotion. 0

After eight years, I had finally learned to refuse. 0

Chu Yue immediately grabbed my arm, tears welling up in her eyes. "Sister, are you still mad at me? I'm sorry; I didn't mean to tell our parents that you were spending money recklessly..." 0

As she spoke, her nails dug painfully into my arm. This was her usual tactic—putting on a façade of understanding in front of others while scheming against me behind my back. Looking down at the fresh mark of blood, I suddenly found it quite ridiculous. 0

Before I could finish my thought, Father rushed over and slapped me across the face. The sharp sound echoed in the living room, and my cheek burned with pain. This scene was all too familiar, like a nightmare that would never end. 0

"How can you still be angry at Yue Yue?!" Father's eyes blazed with fury. "If it weren't for you squandering her living expenses, would she have developed a stomach illness from hunger? As sisters, you're truly selfish!" 0

Mother wore a disappointed expression. "Churan, you're using the pretense of an accident to ask for money again. Ruyue even covered for you and spoke well of you. How did I end up with such a selfish daughter?" 0

"We're making you write an IOU for your own good; you need to change your wasteful spending habits!" Mother's words struck me like a knife, piercing deep into my heart. 0

I covered my stinging cheek, but inside, I felt as cold as ice. 0

"I’m not lying to you; I really had a car accident." 0

My voice trembled slightly, whether from anger or grievance, I couldn’t tell. 0

Mother frowned, her tone filled with impatience. "Are you still pretending? The private hospital's Dr. Wang told us there’s no record of your visit!" 0

A cold laugh bubbled up inside me. A private hospital? I couldn’t even afford the surgery fees at a regular hospital; how could I possibly go to a private one? But they would never think of that. In their eyes, I should enjoy the best medical care just like Chu Yue. 0

Chu Yue chimed in at the right moment, "Sister, even if you’re short on money, you shouldn’t lie to our parents. Here’s some pocket money; take it and use it. We’re sisters after all." 0

As she spoke, she toyed with a diamond necklace worth millions. It was one of the gifts our parents gave her for her Coming of Age Ceremony. My eighteenth birthday gift was an IOU for three thousand. 0

"Ruyue is so sensible," Mother said lovingly as she stroked Chu Yue’s hair. "If only Churan could be half as sensible as you, we would be at ease." 0

I stood there and suddenly laughed. This smile left the three of them stunned. They had never seen me smile like that—like a release, yet laced with sarcasm. 0

"You really think I would take Chu Yue’s living expenses?" 0

I pulled out a stack of receipts from my bag. "This is a detailed account of my tutoring income over the past six months." 0

"And these," I added, taking out several part-time contracts, "are my pay stubs from working at the café." 0

Chu Yue's face instantly turned pale. She hadn't expected me to keep such evidence. 0

"Then why don't you explain?" Mother's tone wavered slightly. 0

"Explain?" I scoffed. "Like how I explained the Sweet and Sour Fish incident six years ago? Or like how I explained the Piano Competition three years ago? In your eyes, I will always be that greedy, ungrateful daughter." 0

Father's expression darkened. "What kind of attitude is this?!" 0

"My attitude?" I pointed to the scars on my arm. "This is what your good daughter looks like—putting on a pitiful act in front of you while being treated like this behind your back." 0

Chu Yue immediately rushed into Mother's arms. "Mom, sister...," her tears flowed freely, and I almost wanted to applaud her acting skills. 0

"Enough!" Mother held Chu Yue tightly, her eyes filled with sorrow. "Churan, you have disappointed me greatly." 0

"I've always regarded you as my older sister since we were young, but what about you? You constantly go against me!" 0

I suddenly felt exhausted. 0
For all these years, I had been performing like a clown. 0
I acted as the understanding sister, the daughter who acknowledged her mistakes. 0
But in the end, to them, I would always be that irredeemable person. 0

"Go against you?" 0
I smiled and shook my head. "Do you know why I had the car accident?" 0

Chu Yue's body suddenly stiffened. 0
She looked up, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes. 0

"That night, I worked late at the café." 0
I spoke each word deliberately. "On my way home, a black sedan suddenly rushed towards me..." 0
"If it weren't for a passerby calling the police in time, I might have already died." 0

"What do you mean?" Father frowned. 0

"Was that car arranged by you?" 0
I stared directly into Chu Yue's eyes. "Is it because I found out about you and Lin Mo?" 0

The living room fell into an eerie silence. 0
Chu Yue's face turned pale, her fingers unconsciously twisting together. 0
