Chapter Fourteen: The Final Truth 0

The train stood still at the edge of darkness, the blizzard outside raging on as if the entire world had been swallowed by an endless white expanse. Outside the window, snowflakes swept through the air like blades, freezing the earth in this storm, halting the pulse of the world. Jason Harper stood in the center of the carriage, his gaze resolute, like an unyielding stone. He had made his decision; he would no longer remain silent. Even if the truth could destroy everything, he could not allow it to remain buried in darkness forever, a pain never to be mentioned. 0

The air was thick with tension, broken only by the gentle sway of the train and the sound of wind howling through the snow. Jason's eyes scanned each person present: Isabelle, Thomas, Catherine, Victor, Mark, Maria… these former companions and suspects all knew deep down that they were merely pawns in a larger conspiracy. They were trapped in its web, unable to escape. And today, everything would change because of his decision. 0

"We have ultimately returned to this place," Jason's voice was low and firm, resonating through every corner of the carriage like an invisible force. Each word carried a heavy weight. "Some believe that the truth behind the murder is simple, but what lies beneath is more than just personal hatred. Fernandez's death is the beginning of an international conspiracy, and each of you has played your part." 0

He paused for a moment and stepped forward to the window, his gaze piercing through the thick snow as if trying to see a deeper truth beyond this veil. "You think you can escape all of this, but in reality, no one can. Your secrets are intertwined like a web; Fernandez's death is at its center, and each of you is both a victim and perpetrator of this scheme." 0

Jason stopped in his tracks, his eyes calm yet penetrating as if he could see into everyone's innermost secrets. His gaze swept across each face: Isabelle's tension, Thomas's rigidity, Catherine's worry, Victor's indifferent stare, and Mark's fidgeting fingers. He could feel the emotional shifts within them; all mystery and unease surged like a tide, making the air feel heavy and suffocating. 0

"Each of you has participated in this revenge to some extent," Jason turned gently to face them again, his expression profound. "But what you do not understand is that behind this revenge lies more than just personal grievances. It is a deeper conflict involving control and power struggles that entangle greater international interests and national rivalries." He paused again as if weighing each word carefully. "You are merely pieces on a chessboard; while your motives may be personal—money, revenge, betrayal—there are greater forces manipulating each of you." 0

Jason took steps toward the window where darkness and blizzard intertwined; his expression grew increasingly serene as if he had lost interest in everything outside. At that moment, he resembled an observer detached from events unfolding around him. "I know that the cost of truth is too great," he slowly turned back to face them. "And I choose to bury it." His voice was low and calm as if all pain had become a thing of the past; a true resolution had been reached within him. 0

An indescribable atmosphere filled the air as if everything had become irrevocable. Each person's breath quickened; every subtle movement felt anxious and uneasy. No one dared to break this momentary silence. The entire carriage seemed like the final stop in this crisis where everyone's fate converged into an irreversible path. No matter what happened next, they could never return to how things once were. 0

Maria stood outside Jason's line of sight; her eyes flickered with complex emotions—relief, deep sorrow, or perhaps an acceptance of helplessness towards the truth? She gently closed her eyes as if contemplating something before finally fixing her gaze on Jason without saying a word—just silently watching him. 0

Jason took a deep breath, preparing to bid farewell to the past and to this storm that was about to end. He was ready to accept changes in this world even if it came at a painful cost. He looked out at the snowstorm which seemed to be gradually subsiding; Silver Dream finally emerged from the shadows of those deep mountains into an unknown future. Yet at this moment, all truths remained hidden within that isolated carriage like an unattainable ghost shrouding everyone’s hearts and leaving them unable to escape. 0

The train continued onward into the distance across boundless snowfields. However, Jason’s heart remained steeped in profound loneliness and unspeakable pain. The truth behind this case might never be known—not even fully understood by him. And he was destined to carry this silent truth as he continued on his endless journey. 0

Jason gazed out the car window at the vast expanse of white snow, a wave of inexplicable fatigue washing over him. Everything from the past seemed irretrievable, and all he could do was bury it deep within, turning it into a shackle he could not escape. 0

He did not know if this storm had come to an end or if it was merely the beginning of an even greater tempest. But one thing was clear: he had irrevocably become a part of this storm. 0
